Safe Return
I’ve been sitting on this joke since we first introduced Little Alderaan back in March or April or whenever it was. I even got a comment and an email suggesting this gag after General Risst first showed up. I had to politely reply that it was in the pipeline. For those not aware, or perhaps a generation ahead, Dr. Robotnik (picture above right) is the arch nemesis of Sonic the Hedgehog, of Sega video game fame. Picture on the above left is General Risst as he appeared in the 1978 Holiday Special animated short “The Story of the Faithful Wookiee”. Biological twins separated at birth? You decide!
Are you going to be at New York Comic Con on October 8 – 10, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Center? We will be there with a table in Artist Alley. If you’re interested in helping us out during the show, especially if you are planning to wear a Star Wars themed costume, please get in touch with us. 🙂
In the meantime enjoy this Star Wars image with our silly caption. It will be the first in an ongoing series inspired by legitimate book covers and production stills.
New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!
Finally got a hold of a copy of Splinter of the Mind’s Eye….. I’m about three chapters in, and thus far, I have to say, this is honestly my least favorite Expanded Universe novel yet. I’m going to push through, though. Maybe the story will get me, because the writing style has definitely not.
You could always try the Dark Horse Comics adaptation, available as a collected trade paperback. At least that way you can avoid the writing style. I completely agree, its heavy going trying to get through the narrative. Doesn’t help that very little really happens in the story.
Yup – pretty disappointing stuff. George wanted to make a low-budget movie in the assumption that Star Wars wouldn’t be a success. The comic adaptation is very well illustrated I have to say.
Hey Willow… is DeForrest Kelley father to Gary Sinise?
As far as I recall, DeForest didn’t have any children. But they do have remarkably similar facial structures.
Just disovered that Sinise has been pipped to play him in the next dreadful Star Trek film!
‘Pipped’? Mooted perhaps.
Great new concept – the re-edited official publications! Imagine if that image was of Luke and Han?
My wife has that book in her classroom. She got it at a yard sale so we didn’t have to bring our copy in. c-3po’d!!!!! lol
YAY its a pissed off protocol droid!!!! :))~
…Snoo-ping as usual, I see?
the heart of the great “PINGAS!” -fad
Also; REBELLING as UsUaL I SEE?
I was hoping you two would do a joke about that , Im now satisfied.
I thought of Dr. Robotnik ages ago! I forgot where he was from (I’ve played only one Sonic game and only half a dozen times, not to mention it must’ve been at least 6 years ago) so I had no way to find him. I love the idea of the spoofed covers!
