The Princess’ Clothes
Congratulations Natalie.
We are delighted to be chosen as the Web Comic Alliance’s pick of the week. They have some very kind words about Blue Milk Special and we’re thrilled to have the appreciation of our peers. Making Web Comics isn’t easy. For most its a non-profit excercise (in our case its not even a choice!). However, the Web Comic Alliance (a relatively new site) has some great articles from its staff–many, if not all of whom, are web comic creators themselves. If you are a reader of web comics and not just a BMSer then I think you’ll like what this new site has to offer. Please check them out and let them know what you think. 🙂
I meant to post this a while ago, but BMSer Phil posted this great picture of Luke, Tauntaun and the Probe Droid. He used the the action figures to recreate a moment from one of our recent strips. Can you guess which one?
Occasionally I freak out over my day job and start desperately asking people for help with finding a new job. I’m once again asking for anyone who has any contacts or knows of any opportunities in the Southern Maryland / Washington DC area or anywhere at all if its telecommuting or freelance. My resume is ready. 🙂
What can I do? Write, graphic design, web design, events, exhibiting, personal assistant (to a millionaire preferably)… etc.. etc… Heck, I’ve even been an extra on Xena Warrior Princess and New Zealand Television commercials. I just need to get out of where I’m at right now for the good of both myself and Leanne… and ultimately BMS. You can email me directly at bluemilkspecial@gmail.com. Please, if you know anyone or of anything, let me know. I really need an out.
Oh and don’t forget our Design a Carton Competition. 🙂
That photo is a lot of fun – I was actually on the verge of recreating last week’s wampa strip with my son’s Galactic Heroes – but it seems a bit redundant now – LOL.
This week’s kick-off is a zinger – I love the fact that nothing is changed from the film for the set up – but the pay off is pure BMS – love it 🙂
Congrats to Natalie too! And congrats to Leanne for that awesome Baron she produced for Rob Zombie – hopefully he’ll commission more!
I agree, but on second look I note that its not Hoth Luke on the Taun Taun but a Hoth Rebel Soldier. In hindsight, it was really annoying that Kenner released Han Hoth along wih Hoth Rebel Soldier in 1980, but then waited until 1982 to release a proper Luke Hoth. Myself and everyone I knew as a child, like that photo, just subsitituted the soldier for Luke. Two years was a lifetime when you’re that young, and by 1982 I was sick of Empire Strkes Back stuff.
Yeah, you can only take so much snow and swamp before you need a change of scenery and theme. 🙂 Interesting about the the Hoth Rebel. I didn’t know that.
You’re right! For me, also, ESB was the high water mark for my youthful Star Wars fandom – I got some Star Wars toys, lots of ESB stuff, and absolutely nothing from ROTJ. I was way too old for it by then!
LOL – me too – I wanted to get RoTJ toys, but at 16 I would have never got a girlfriend…
Still got my ESB IG88 though – he’s my favourite 🙂
See, that’s where I’m lucky. My girlfriend/wife loves action figures as well. SCORE!
Congratulations on all f these web sites recognizing your Supreme supremacy in all things humorously Star Wars!!
PFFT! That’s hilarious. So far, the ESB strips are great.
Brilliant strip! I bet if George Lucas saw it, he’d smack himself for not thinking of it himself, it fits so well.
Thanks for posting the pic!
Han, you think she’s cold now, wait till you marry her! 😉
(just kidding honey if you ever read this) 🙂
LOL. Hey, some people have bad luck.
Heh, nice. I always did wonder how they managed to keep up that childish love/hate snarkiness for sooooo long. (Isn’t it three years in-universe time between SW and ESB?) The other rebels must have been really tired of them.
Well… who says it really kicked into gear until recently before the move to Hoth? 🙂
I’ll be honest, I think Han was an uber jerk in TESB. I liked him much more in ANH where his sarcasm and pushiness wasn’t so strong. Last time I watched TESB I really didn’t enjoy him as much. I still love him, but so much of his dialogue is delivered peevishly. Maybe Ford was having a bad month or something?
Yeah – Han was kinda cranky, especially in the beginning of the film. Maybe he needed more space fiber or something? *shrug*
I don’t mean to nitpick him. I mean I love him in ANH. He gets better in the second half of the TESB. I think it was just a shock to be reminded how antagonistic and uptight he had become. The bounty hunter from Ord Mantel? *cough* bullshit *cough*
Nah, you’re not nitpicking him. You’ve gone pretty easy on him so far, I think. This is the first time he’s getting the ol’ pie-in-the-face treatment. Just about all of the other characters we’ve seen so far in the Star Wars saga has gotten it – it was just his turn, that’s all.
Another priceless “Lucas now and then” pic:

🙂
****ing Brilliant!
It all looks so… empty.
Thanks for the pic Spear. I’ve included it – with thanks, on today’s SWa9 page http://starwarsage9.com/index.php/part-v/passage-to-alderann-11
LOL, love how this strip just lets the imagination do all the work xD
It puts thought in your head…
:O dirty mind!
For as good of a strip this is (and it so obviously needed done looking back) I’m surprised there are only 17 comments so far (plus this one).
It simply deserves more attention.
Regarding the poll: one of my favorite Star Wars stories is that my parents took me with them to see Return of the Jedi when it first came out. Only thing was that I was three months old, so my dad spent most of the movie in the lobby with the infant who didn’t like loud noises.
^_^
Hey rod I forgot to ask, you weren’t Lucy Lawless’s stunt double on Xena Warrior Princess were you?
I see a resemblance, except you have slightly more facial hair.
Nope. But she did mingle with the extras during breaks and was really easy going and good humored. I also met and talked to Ted Raimi while waiting off set to escort him as a prisoner into a scene. He was about to start work on Spiderman at the time. Best job I ever had. So much fun. Sword fighting, sitting around talking to interesting people, etc etc. Very cool. Wish I had exploited the opportunity more than I had at the time. I let me day job get in the way and could have been in more episodes. Chances to have fun like that don’t come along often. I should have seized the moment at that point in my life when I could have afforded to lose my full time day job. I don’t know why I didn’t realize it at the time. Likewise I was given the opportunity to be an extra on Lord of the Rings but passed it up because I didn’t want to move down to Wellington. I’m an idiot.
DUDE! Lord of the Rings!?!?!?!? I thought being an extra in Spiderman was awesome… and it was.
Someone told me that Chris. Tolkien disinherited a grandchild because he was an extra in LOTR.
Hey Rod, is this gag inspired by the Radio series – or the novel perhaps? (I bet I’ll be told now that 3PO discusses the heater etc., in the film – d’oh) Heard 3P0 discussing the danger of melting the walls of her highness’s chamber in the radio show last night.
Thanks!
