Carbonite Thoughts
Lando’s new found ability is starting to bother him… or is it his conscience? Whatever it is, Lando doesn’t want to stick around to hear any more details from Carbonite Han.
This weekend I successfully installed a Blu-Ray drive in my computer so I could finally see the super rare deleted scenes from the Original Trilogy that were bonus features of the Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) [Blu-ray] discs. Some of these scenes had cropped up over the years on Youtube, before being removed for copyright infringement, but there are some that were brand new with the Blu-Rays released late last year. I caved and ponied up, and I’m not going to lie… I LOVED the extras! I had wanted to see several of these scenes for over a decade and it was mind blowing to actually view them at last.
There were several deleted scenes that I knew nothing about. I particularly wanted to see the deleted scenes from Cloud City, and given where we are currently at in the sequence of our parody, I finally had the motivation to catch up with technology. It’s an investment for Blue Milk Special, as I can use some of the visual reference onscreen for the backgrounds in future and flashback strips. Several of the deleted scenes from A New Hope have inspired me to expand upon some of the old strips, including at least one more Biggs strip that sprang to mind.
Re: Our Blue Milk Special Podcast: Thanks to those that have downloaded the first episode and given us a little feedback. It should be available on iTunes soon as well, pending approval.
We had some big issues with overlapping conversations, presumably due to lag and a crappy sound recording program. It meant a LOT of post production to salvage whatever we could. For episode 2 we will be trying Total Recorder instead. We also wanted to save discussion of Star Wars VII for episode 2, as we knew talking about the Disney / LucasFilm news would be an episode in itself. I’m now thinking that the Star Wars Blu-Rays might get a mention too!
If readers / listeners have any questions or topics they would like us to discuss in future episodes of the Podcast, please shoot me an email, or leave a comment below.
Hiya Rod and Leanne,
This is very good – inventive stuff: Lando’s conscience!
I really enjoyed your 1st Podcast. Quite an achievement? First ever audio adventure? It really picked up pace after about 15 mins.
Yes, I think there were a couple of gaps of what sounded like ‘dead air’ actually as you moved via music into the next part. I thought everyone was stuck for something to say! So I’d say [of course, I’m such an expert] end the last line of a segment with a BOOM! – effect or some sufficiently loud music clip to keep it going. Otherwise it was fantastic stuff.
I’ve never done it so feel free to call me an idiot and ignore me 😀

So only Lando can “Hear” Han’s thoughts. You would think someone Force Sensitive like Vader, Luke, or even Leia, would pick them up.
I definitely think he needs to go pound a few Colt 45’s down, and push his guilt aside. All in all I think Han will be more mad about the future damage to the Falcon, then this little betrayal incident.
I see both Han and Lando as being non-Force sensitives… so the Force isn’t the explanation for this weird twist. 🙂 Too many Colt 45’s, however, could be.
Congratulations on your first podcast! The audio is pretty good where everyone is recorded at the same volume and is speaking clearly.
Unfortunately, as soon as you reported the Star Wars version of Angry Birds, I turned off the podcast and downloaded the game. 😉
I’ll finish listening to the podcast later today. 😛
See LucasFilm? We are helping boost your sales! 🙂
Glad our Star Wars: Angry Birds report was so riveting that it had that effect on you!
Definitely an interesting twist. An interesting thing to do with carbonite Han as opposed to him being just a wall decoration. Too bad there’s only so many strips you can do with carbonite Han, unless you figure out a way of including some side adventures between him and Boba on the way to Jabba’s palace.
Like in Lego SW 2? I still have my ex for the ps2. in replay mode (after you beat story mode) you can play as characters that wasn’t in those scenes to reach ares you couldn’t normally. and if you have an unlockable – I think it was called “Extra Characters” it adds some unlisted random figs to play as (like womp rats, mouse droids etc), of which one is carnonite Han x3 I have a memory of running around on one endor level and pressed the “next character” button and tought what the-” when i turne dinto a wobbling tall black brick with a han-minifig pattern on x3
I also had another thought. Since BMS is doing Shadows of the empire, you could have some side adventures with Lando while he’s posing as a guard in Jabba’s palace before ROTJ. It would be funny to have him arguing with Carbonite Han and have someone staring at him wonder what he’s doing.
That’s the plan. 🙂
The sudden purchase by disney and ideas of ep7 has made me unsettled in one way: what will happen to the idea of re-running sw in cinemas in 3d? I really wanted to see the other fives in 3d, ESPECIALLY the OT (since the pt used so much 3d, especially ep2, already it wouldn’t feel quite as special). I have some deep feeling that dosney will just regard the 3d saga as “making less money” and focus only on the potential for ep7 and it’s related media/merchandise :s
Lando can hear the thoughts of someone frozen in Carbonite. Now *that’s* cool.
I think Lando Calrissian was woefully underused. If you’ve got someone as smooth and as gorgeous as Billy Dee Williams in your flicks, then I know I sure as hell want to see him more.
BMS is already showing more Lando than the films did. Bravo!! I do hope the trend continues.
“Her hands are still dirty” – thanks for the clip in the podcast. I wasn’t getting that comment. Probably because I haven’t watched the movies in years, because I refused to buy it on DVD.
