BB-8 or VB-8?
Beach Ball, Volley Ball, or both? He’s definitely number 8.
Reminder: One of the reasons we chose to do a parody of the Force Awakens was to be a part of contemporary Star Wars for the first time in our 7 year history as a webcomic. For the first time a new Star Wars movie is happening in the age of webcomics. Although some early webcomics existed during Revenge of the Sith, it really was just early days for the medium. For once, we have the opportunity to experience our subject at the same time it is making its debut. The material is just as new to everyone else as it is to us. That makes this interesting, different, and fun.
This is not a long term commitment. If anything, we are parodying material alluded to in the trailers and will revert back to our Return of the Jedi storyarc before December’s end.
Call for help!
It is a time of year where many people tend to be looking for gifts for their friends and family. I am desperately trying to sell some treasured pieces of my own collection to raise money and would love it if readers who are interested, or know someone who might be, would help me spread the word about what I have for sale over on eBay. Here are some of the items, but you can see a full list here.

I always thought of him as a soccer ball. But he’d be a pretty big soccer ball…
Which brings us to an age old piece of Galactic Wisdom:
Never date a tattooed twi’lek, with an astromech droid named VD-4U.
I don’t get it…
At the risk of being called out for nitpicking, how is BB-8’s head staying on? I mean I have a couple theories, but all in all the beach ball body seems entirely impractical.
Maybe it detaches. Dealing with the technicalities has never been crucial for what we do here. 🙂
BB8 is a physical prop, so there is actually an explanation as to how he works, exactly. You ought to look it up.
Someone said it was something to do with magnets. I like Bernard Bresslaw’s quote from the 70s, “Imagination first, technicalities second.”
Well, actually that’s pretty cool. Here, I was thinking it was CGI. I look forward to the adventures of Beach Ball 8, then. 😉
That is a good quote from Bresslaw.

How does Kenny fit in BB8??
Maybe just his head does…
Silly Naxter, nobody’s inside BB8. Actually, nobody’s inside R2 in this movie either. He’s played by three or so RC droids built by a fan organization specializing in R2-D2s.
