Dad Vader
I just realized we first started our parody of Return of the Jedi all the way back in September, 2013. Less than a year earlier, George Lucas made the big announcement that he was selling LucasFilm to Disney and that a new Star Wars trilogy was going to be filmed. Within the next couple of months, Disney and LucasFilm approved the acquisition and the news that shook sci-fi fandom became history. A director was hired, George Lucas’ plots were thrown out, and plans were set in motion for a new era of the Star Wars franchise.
Essentially, in the same length of time it took from the serious start of pre-production on The Force Awakens, we have been plugging away at our Return of the Jedi webcomic. In that time, an entire hundred million dollar plus film has been finished and released and we still haven’t reached the climactic battle on, and above, Endor.
Of course, the difference is that Blue Milk Special is a two person team. Two people who do this in their spare time for free. However, even with that excuse, I do apologize for the length of time it has taken to get this far. However, I don’t regret it either. Rushing would mean skipping scenes and characters that help make Blue Milk Special a little different from anything else out there. So many little offshoots and tangents would be completely missed and who wants Blue Milk Special Lite? We’d rather give you a high percentage brew with a frothy blue head.
So, a new movie may have come from out of the blue and lit new fires for Star Wars fandom, but Blue Milk Special soldiers ever on, like a Stormtrooper, lost in a sea of white helmets, but working away diligently in the background of the internet to provide fans, and ourselves, with a much needed distraction from life. Remember, humor is the key to happiness!
I am reinstating the comment option for this strip and we will see how things go.
I’m at 43% of my goal to raise enough to cover my recent medical procedure, thanks to you guys, friends, and family. I also have a sneaking suspicion that some of the items I have listed on eBay have benefited from promotion here on this blog for the greater cause. More to come soon!
Please contribute, if you can, to my brand new GoFundMe which I have set up to help raise funds after my latest medical procedure at the beginning of the month — trigger point injections. My insurance has a high deductible which is the reason for my accepting any help anyone is willing to give.
All help we can get will ultimately benefit the continuation of Blue Milk Special as a webcomic. The frustrating thing about having health issues related to the spine and nervous system, like so many other conditions that people are enduring, is that it is hard, physically to do almost all standard day jobs. This makes our financial hardship even more challenging. And of course, artists don’t tend to make much for all the hard work they do either. So, please consider supporting not just ourselves, but any artist whose work brings you happiness.
Without art, the Earth is just eh.
So, BMS may take the scenic route, but that is what we love about it.
Less chance for massive plot holes (apart from pointing out the ones already there).
As always thanks for all you do for us.
I also have to say that I wore my BMS shirt to the cinemas for TFA to help me remember to just try and enjoy the film. 😉
Welcome back, comment section.
Leia is keeping it real. 😉
I have actually been surprised at a few of the scene you have skipped, but then I really wanted to see your take at Threepio’s ‘magic’. That scene has always amused me.
Sorry about skipping the odd thing. But think of it this way, Threepio’s magic scene was already funny, so it didn’t really need to be parodied. At least, I couldn’t think of anything to do with that scene.
I was wondering what was going on with that. I noticed you skipped the part where Wicket and Leia face off a scout trooper.
? what part?
Right after Wicket finds Leia, she gives him food, and then something startles him, and he hides, and it turns out to be a small group of scout troopers. One tells Leia to freeze, and then, my memory’s rusty on which order it happened in, but Wicket hits the trooper from under his log, Leia beats him, then she picks off the one on the speeder bike trying to get away. Watch the scene again. I can’t find a clip of it online, but if you skip to that part of the movie, it’s right after she and Wicket become friends.
Wait, never mind, I found it.

Weird, I remember the scene now… but I completely blanked on it. Is it possible one of the recent re-cut special editions edited this scene out? Or did I fall asleep during my most recent viewing? I wonder…
I’ve never heard any Special Edition haters whining about it, so it must be from the original. 🙂
Always glad to see a new strip! I always check in regularly to see what new shenanigans BMS is up to. 🙂
Is Biggs taking advantage of your invalid state, Rod? Looks like he’s got you pinned down good and proper…
Seriously, you guys are the best – I wish I could afford to support you more than just buying a T shirt. Kia kaha!
Smokin’ Leia reminds me of the immortal words of ZZ Top:
She’s got legs.
🙂
And she knows how to uuuuuse them!
Yay! Comments are back!
I’m thinking Luke won’t be trying to grab her butt anymore…
I love Fist of the North Star, I have a Rey figure from Japan around here somewhere…
me too. I’m not parting with Rei.
I’ll send you mine. I put him on E-Bay, but he didn’t sell.
My favorite character.
Hang on to him. My Rei has been custom painted by myself and has pride of place on my shelf. 🙂
You can’t rush good art (or story) and I’m sure glad you two don’t. Thank you for all you do.
It’s been a lot of fun following BMS all this time. I’m glad I found it years back.
Also, following your eBay link I saw the Action Force fan club set that I just couldn’t resist! 🙂
I hope it can add to your useless knowledge, James. I’ve always loved your site and your work!
Thanks, Rod. There was an old G.I. Joe site I used to like, too, but it went away. Something about Zartan…
I’m actually using my useless knowledge for a G.I. Joe timeline book, and this may be useful for that: http://www.hassleinbooks.com/pages/book_gi.php
I would think of it in terms of how many individual frames make up a movie? They just cycle through them very quickly, while here at BMS you can savor each and every one. 🙂
I’ve always loved your work, keep soldier’in on brother.
Dad Vader lol. Been reading all your comics the last few days as a therapy for the loss of my father. You guys have done an amazing job.
Glad we could help a little. Humor is a great escape for us too. Wishing you the very most Forciness that can be.
