Another Death Star
How did the Empire build a second Death Star that was larger than the first, so quickly? My answer? No unions.
There have been quite a lot of good guesses as to the identity of the many guest stars in our last strip. Many have been correct, but some characters are proving a little harder for our readers to pick. I’m going to keep you in suspense just a little longer so we can introduce the characters as they appear in continuity in our strips. But, as with all things, we can’t please everybody and cover EVERY sci-fi out there, so we focused on characters that had something in common with the Star Wars Rebel Alliance, and who had something to contribute to the battle plan. Ie, marines / commandos, and characters with space ships that could assist in the battle. Farscape only lost out because of time and not being quite as striking in cartoon form. If I had my way, they would be there and we’d have Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering there too. Oh Wilma….
Elsewhile, I’m selling a lot of my DVDs including Doctor Who and Transformers cartoons to help raise money. Please take a look at our eBay item listings here.
This is the final strip of the year for 2014. We will see you on Friday, January 2nd, 2015!
Wilma Deering — oh my, yes, she would have been most welcome. Did you catch Erin Gray at Awesomecon last April?
I love the cheerful Mon Calamari.
Hmmmm, maybe they just CGIed the whole thing.
All this time I just assumed they had a second one already being built for faster planet destruction.
Don’t forget that most of the “construction time” for the first one was experiments; much of the original Death Star was built, tested, stripped, and rebuilt several times. Not to mention the relative disorganization in the station’s early years. It’s not too shocking if they spend 15 years working on the blueprints, finish the project 5 years later, then build half of another one within three more years.
Speaking of Mon Calamari … in the Clone Wars cartoon, the females appear to have breasts … WHY???? … but then if they’re giving squid people human legs and arms, AND naming them the “Calamari,” they’re obviously not too troubled by details.
LOL. Well, at least you’re not anal and trying to rationalize everything. 🙂
Yeah, given that it took 19 years to build the first one, but only 3.5 to build what we saw in RotJ.
This is another reason to ignore RotS, and the rest of the so-called prequels.
I always assumed they were ALWAYS building a second one.
Maybe they were building them at the same time with the second one a few years behind on construction, so that the first one was finished first.
