Beauty and the Smuggler
This strip was inspired by the print by artist Chris Trevas, but with our own little BMS twist. You know this had to happen this way. I also hope you like the new BMS banner at the top of the page to herald the changing scenery as we approach the middle of the movie.
Here’s an update on the successful Save BMS Campaign. To those of you who went for the FORCINESS tier, Leanne and I are about 60% done with your art. We should have everything done by August 8th. Printing will add another couple of weeks, along with shipping, so expect to receive your pinup posters before September 1st. Thank you so much for your patience and enthusiasm!
We had a couple of delays due to concurrent projects and this ugly thing called life. Our priority remains keeping the regular Blue Milk Special strips going and doing our best to update on a regular schedule.
Sadly, my grandmother passed away last week in New Zealand. It was very sudden. She had a lot of energy and was very committed to the family. She will be missed by the large family she leaves behind.
As far as my silly health goes, I’m now working from home on the webcomic without a regular job to support me. Leanne has some Transformers work through Hasbro that is helping and I’m doing what I can to develop my various writing projects.
The trouble is, I can no longer hold down a full time job with my spine and nerve pain at the current level. Most days there are periods where I have little choice but to lay in bed in an effort to alleviate spine pain, so my windows to work on projects are sporadic and dependent on my health. Leanne has been, and continues to be my number one supporter. But thanks to you guys, life is not as hard right now as it could have been when I was forced to leave my job.
Corny perhaps, but I mean this: comedy is probably the most universal source of joy in our world after love, so it is a great diversion and I hope that BMS continues to bring a little cheer and positivity into the lives of readers as it does in mine.
Patreon offers readers a way to support the artists they love with a regular subscription to their work. It’s basically like an ongoing Kickstarter campaign, where you can pledge to give us an amount which you specify every time we release a new piece of content (a webcomic strip). Don’t worry, you can set a maximum amount in case you’re worried about spending too much in a month.
Just so you all know, WE ARE NOT SUDDENLY CHARGING YOU FOR BLUE MILK SPECIAL CONTENT, IT IS STILL FREE. We are just asking for help and Patreon offers a way for those of you who can afford to support us to do so. At the same time, you’ll have a much closer connection to us and receive a lot of exclusive Patreon only Blue Milk Special content and perks to show our appreciation. Want to see Boba Fett beyond the Sarlacc pit? Support us and let us know what you want more or less of. We will listen and we want be able to chat with fans.
If we can get some extra help financially, then it makes the project easier and provides an additional incentive for Leanne and myself to create new strips more frequently. That means more content for you guys. All readers will benefit, but Patreon supporters will get extra good stuff.
I always thought it cruel that Han never got to see her in the slave outfit. I’ll bet she never wears it for him again either, I doubt she has fond memories of it…
So sorry for your loss Rod. 🙁
Perhaps he got a different but similar version later to make up for what he missed. Fur lined maybe.
My condolences as well Rob *hug*
Yay! Great way to portray the artwork in BMS. One can really feel with Han. 😀
Also, my sincere condolences on your loss, Rod. 🙁
Chris’s print is one of my all-time favorites – you’ve done it justice 🙂
Sorry to hear about your Gran, Rod – my sympathies.
My deepest condolences for your loss, Rod.
Oh god, you can feel Han’s sorrow coming right through the screen. lol. Well done! 😀
Condolences on your loss Rod. Hugs and prayers to you and your family. My Grandma died 16 years ago and I still miss her. 🙁 Will you be going home for the service or have health and finances gotten in the way?
Sorry for your loss.
Love the banner.
At least Han will be able to see Leia’s forest girl outfit, with the slit that goes up to her waist. 🙂
Looking forward to Luke vs. BMS Emperor. It will be epic!
Condolences on your grandmother, Rod.
Sorry for your loss Rod. And for your continuing health issues. I’m glad you and Leanne get so much joy form BMS.
John
Well, if you’ve gone blind, that’s still a pretty good thing to be the first thing you see when you’ve got your vision back 😀
Scene: Endor, forests, little ridiculous Ewoks wander about, being eaten by horrible things.
Han and group sit in the forests wasting time chatting with the forest equivalent of a drive up window take out food order menu item [ewok on a stick, yum].
Then suddenly, Boba Fett races up to Han! [Fett looks a little disheveled, his clothes are torn and stained, he has longish hair sticking out the back of his helmet.]
“Han! You have to help me! My.. er.. girlfriend is real clingy!”
Han, upset over his misadventures with Fett, is angry and apoplectic.
“But Han, we had fun together! Remember surfing?!”
“I had barnacles in my nose from that!!” Han shouts.
At that moment, a tentacle comes from offscreen and grabs Fett.
“Not again!”
This isn’t Facebook, but [like].
“How it should have ended” for Episode 6 actually made the exactly same joke about Han missing that.
Yeah, well approaching the webcomic one scene at a time, means I’ll never be able to get all the gags we have out there before everyone. I guarantee a lot of people have thought of Han’s vision coming back before. Here it is in our parody with our art. 🙂
The question is, do I pull every gag I’ve written whenever I see some other source beat me to its publication? If I did that, this would be a lot shorter parody. Hopefully the journey seeing it through the BMS style still gives it a unique flavor.
Oh, poor Han. I know he’s kicking himself over it. And Lando probably rubs it in that he did get to see it. I’m sure Han doesn’t have any complaints now though. Especially if the next strip is any indication. 🙂
I LOVE Chris Trevas’ print and cool to see you used it for inspiration. From Han’s shocked expression to Leia totally owning how she looks. It just rocks.
