Black Belt in LucasArts
The most awesome thing about making Blue Milk Special is our fans. Recently we put together a fund raising campaign through GoFundMe to try and cover our expenses for a massive upgrade for our website. The upgrade is necessary for the security of the site after ComicPress is no longer being supported and vulnerable to hackers. Not everyone has money they can contribute to help BMS, and in the case of T. Gatto, he has mailed us a set of 12 vintage Star Wars Kenner action figures from 1977 to sell on eBay so that the sale can go towards our goal!
It’s hard to express how incredibly kind this act is, and those of everyone who have made sacrifices to help us keep going. T’s note to me simply stated “Thanks for helping to make my childhood memories fun again. May the Forciness be with you!”
The auction ends on Sunday 15th, December. There is a reserve that will need to be met, but we hope that in the spirit of the donation to Blue Milk Special through this auction that people will help spread the word and help bring as many bidders to the table as possible. Christmas is only a little over a month away and this is a piece of 1977 Star Wars history that you can add to your shelf, or the shelf of a loved one.
The auction includes the following original 1977 figures: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C3PO, R2D2, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Jawa, Tusken Raiders, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, Imperial Guy, as well as Boba Fett. Original accessories and capes included. See auction for details! Spread the word and help BMS out!
Meanwhile, we continue to try to raise funds to help the website. We are more than halfway toward achieving our extended goal! Please check out the information below and think about contributing. Thanks!
NEW BMS WEBSITE GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN UPDATE
If you had not yet been able to pitch in and would still like to, we are trying to raise as much of a bonus as possible which will go towards improving the design of the site, particularly the archive and navigation functionality as well as future maintenance, backups and emergency fixes.
How much room we have to grow the site will depend on the continued success of the New Blue Milk Special Websbite campaign at GoFundMe. So, if you can help out, that is fantastic. If you can’t, that’s fine. I know a lot of people are not in a great situation at the moment. Neither are we. Thanks for reading BMS and shooting us your emails and leaving your comments. They are a huge motivation for both of us.

Lucas Arts, backed by the magic of CGI and the Armor of Eternal Retrospect…
– 13 figures (the 12 original + Boba Fett)
– “Imperial Guy” was known by many names on his carded releases, but the original (and my favorite) is “Death Squad Commander”. Suddenly he was more sinister that the Storm Trooper.
🙂 I’m especially glad that Biggs liked the Rubber Chicken that I also sent… 🙂
Haha, I thought it was because he created them and stuff… Good twist. I thought for a second that the katana was a lightsaber prop. You know, how they had these metal rods and they rotoscoped them to get the blade effect.
Thanks! Good idea about rotoscoping.
Ooh, I didn’t actually see how you could use that. I’m excited for what you have in mind.
The auction end the 15th of NOVEMBER not December; that means less then 5 days from now.
Thanks. Glad someone finally pointed this typo out. Further proof to anyone who doubts that I am typing while on meds. 😉
This is why you have to love light sabers. The near instant cauterization made Star Wars far less a bloody film, when you consider all the dismemberment featured in the film. Lucas neatly avoided the shock value of so many hands, arms, legs, and torsos getting cleaved on screen.
So effectively they had to randomly have one wound not cauterize so that the first movie would get a PG rating instead of a G one.
Correct, the bloody forelimb of the unfortunate aqualish ruffian, Ponda Baba…. At the cantina. Come to think of it, each movie seemed to get one, Luke bloodied in the snows of Hoth, and when Han treats Leia’s wound near the bunker on endor in ROTJ, his fingers are bloody, when they are forced to “put-em up”.
Tom is a good egg. 🙂
EGG!?
Is that a reference to my hairline, or lack thereof? 😉
