Captain Antilles #2
Nice try, Captain Antilles. The Rebel ceremony at the end of the film kind of proves Vader’s point.

OMG I never thought of that. I guess I just watched Vader’s entrance and suspended disbelief after that.
Valid point though. 🙂
Ha ha – good one. To be honest, when I was 9 years old back in 1977, I didn’t really know what they were talking about anyway.
LEIA: I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m a member of the
Imperial blah blah blah on a blah blah blah mission to Alderaan…
Great idea slotting new stuff in. The first SW is still my favourite and it gives me an added wonder-struck feeling of nostalgia when I read these.
John
Gah! When will the meddling end? You’re raping my early 40’s.
Good one!
Hahaha! As a costumer I appreciate the joke. 😉 He is indeed wearing a rebel officer uniform.
And here I thought it was more of a Militia uniform. Or that of Alderaan, not specifically the Rebellion. It didn’t seem right for a group of rebels to have a uniform look, if you ask me. Maybe the crews of ships, yeah, but otherwise their eqiupment and clothing would have been either stolen, donated or bought on the black market.
He even has the same rank insignia as the Rebel Alliance. 🙂
The Alliance rankings were probably based on those of their member worlds. I think it’s only a problem when you look backwards from later materials. Within the original film it makes sense, including the rebels on the ship and at the base later on. Not to knock the strip, it”s a funny joke and observation in light of present popular views of the SW universe.
heh Never noticed that about the uniforms either. 🙂
I laughed so hard at this. It’s hard to fault you for Lucas-ing the series by going back and adding new bits when they’re just so damn good! 🙂
/not to nitpick, but shouldn’t it be “councelor”? Or is that the word that came up in the closed captions / original script?
Actually, I just double checked it, and that’s how BlueHarvest.net transcribed it. I believe it is correct.
I’d say consular is the correct word, because it’s carrying a representative of a council (from Latin consul).
However, it’s amusing to point out the specifics of the A New Hope fleet uniform, when it looks like you’re not drawing an A New Hope Vader. That Vader has his sleeveless robe over his shoulder armor.
Vader is Vader as far as this “Cartoon” strip is concerned.
They are most likely meant to be Alderaanian honor guards of some kind, escorting the princess, and attending the ceremony later. Just because later material (lazily) dubbed them Rebel Fleet Troopers, doesn’t mean the movie was wrong.
