Career advancement
Baltimore Comic Con 2013 is now over, but it was a very good show for us this year with the usual Saturday mad house followed by less of an attendance drop off on Sunday than the last couple of years. We may have been spoiled by our location, which was outside of the main artist alley hall. But I have to wonder if something has changed in people’s general attitude at shows compared to the last few years. Perhaps it is something to do with a recovering economy and people being more willing to treat themselves and take an interest. For the first time at a show, people really seemed to get drawn into our BMS group shot pinups of the main cast, as well as the Death Star Class of ’77.
I also debuted Once Upon A Caper for the first time at a convention. I nearly sold out of the small supply I took with me, and considering there was no signage I take some encouragement from that. Nearly everyone that I explained the concept to subsequently asked me how much it was and wanted a copy. This was a great reinforcement for me that I’m walking down the right road and that people will want more.
We also had a fan come all the way from Australia to see us at the show! This fact alone was one of greatest highlights of the show. Thanks, Graeme! And thanks for the chocolate biscuits!
One of the other highlights is below…
Finally, a live action Vader with “muggy”, the BMS Vader mug made by fan and reader, T. Gatto.
I’m short on time, so for now here are some of the moments from the show… Where would we be without Karen’s Slave Leia to mimic BMS Leia with phone and ciggie? 😉
I’ll bet those chcolate biscuits were TimsTams. They are to die for!
They were indeed!
Some were normal and some … were Choc-Orange and then there was the just plain chocolate.
Seriously, it was a pleasure meeting you and you were so generous with your time, Thnk you both so much.
As a bonus it was good to meet Eric (our LT in this strip). I think he looks good in black.
A message to any other BMS fans out there, if you do get the chance to get to a con to say hi to Rod and Leanne … DO SO. You won’t regret it, they are as they seem genuinely nice people who deserve all the praise we can give them.
And if you think the artwork looks good on the website here, imagine how good it is when it is your hands forever, just as you want it. I know, as that Leia and R2 has already been smuggled out of the country just waiting for me to get back home 🙂
Thanks again and may the forceiness remain with you as long as you want.
Yay, first. Love you guys. And I thought that Vader was on the second death star from the beginning and that they were waiting for the Emperor.
Nope. The Emperor arrives later. 😉
I love the one with R2 holding the pack of cigarettes for Leia!
LOVE the Live action shots. Hi Muggy!
That Helmet is a GREAT look for Leanne.
As for the strip; Never mind the fanfare, I hope they are keeping a fresh pot of Java waiting for him.
That’s a beautiful sketch of Leia and R2 🙂
Hi guys, still going strong.
Nice to see Return of the Jedi starting,
Keep up the great work you two.
Oh, BMS Vader, taking your time getting to your big Imperial-March-blaring-walking-through-jets-of-steam entrance. I am imagining Rod pounding on Vader’s dressing room door as the Sith lord waits for another cup of coffee to brew or something.
Glad to hear about the conventions. I’m looking forward to the continuing story of little Sovena!
Rod Serling?
Oh I’m so excited and honored to see that my family picture made it on your blog post! It was so great chatting with you and your lovely wife. Jeesh. She just wouldn’t stop talking! 😉
Little Boba Fett, I call him Darthypie, is enjoying the bookmark and temporary tattoos you gave him.
HAHA! Yes, she goes into a sort of artistic zone when she’s working on commissions. I’m glad the tattoos were a hit. It was great talking to you guys and getting the photo!
Hey, I just noticed this:
On the Vader and Muggy photo (Now my desktop), did you intentionally have BMS Vader giving Rabbit Ears to the Cosplayer Vader?
I think it add a whole new level to the Dark Lord’s Sinister side if he would Photo Bomb himself… 😉
Yeah, that was intentional. I took a couple of photos, but noticed the bunny ears going on and made sure I snapped it. It’s my favorite of the two we took. Muggy looks great in Vader’s hands.
