Chewie’s Address Book
We’ve embedded the YouTube link to part 5 of the Holiday Special below. This resumes the sexy performance by Diahann Carroll for grandpa Itchy’s perverse pleasure. However, once you’ve skipped through this… uh… I mean watch the conclusion of this hard-to-believe-it’s-real scene, it’s time to remind everyone this is Star Wars with the first appearance of Carrie Fisher.
In both of Leia’s scenes Carrie looks like she’s stoned. She has that sleepy and strained performance that is hard to attribute to anything other than trying your best to be professional while completely off your head. And Carrie does a great job of delivering her lines, even if she does look like she’s in slow motion. That odd sleepy smile gets worse during her final scene much later in the show. Knowing Carrie’s history with substances one has to wonder if it was the script for the Holiday Special that started the addiction. Sorry, Carrie, we love you and thank the maker you showed up in time to reminds us why we’re watching, but you really do look like you were on Cloud City. 😉
Watch part five of the Star Wars Holiday Special below…
It sure takes Leia a long time to change cloths…
What, 1 comment, is that the best you people can do?
Oh wait this makes 2 ;=
Anyway Carrie Fisher was sure hot, especially when she revealed there was no underwear in space.
This leads to so many more possible comments that I’ll stop now when I’m ahead.
Thanks T. I guess today’s strip was a real “miss”. *sigh*. Covering the Holiday Special was something I personally really wanted to do even though I’m all too aware that one of BMS strong points is that it works as a parody of something that most people in the world, even those that don’t consider themselves fans, have seen. This is of course, not the case with the rightfully obscure Holiday Special. Part of me just likes doing our own thing with the Star Wars characters and playing with the bits and pieces that occurred between the films helps prolong the adventure and the fun. However, it’s reader feedback that feeds this strip, so what was going to be quite a thorough adaptation / parody of the Holiday Special will be shortened dramatically and only last another three weeks.
And yes, I’ll happily take suggestions for gags involving Leia’s absence of underwear. Email them privately to bluemilkspecial@gmail.com
Oh heck – sorry Rod. I’m enjoying it. I think your other challenge with this abomination is that it really IS such an abomination and already so bad that it’s funny. I’d hate to try and parody the ‘Lumberjack song’ or ‘the dead parrot sketch’.
Wait a second… are you comparing the Holiday Special to two of Monty Python’s most popular sketches? Shame on you! 🙂
Ok ok. I’m about to send you a wee concept for a strip…
Wait – what? She reveals… in the ‘Special’? (Sound of footsteps running off to watch – a price worth paying).
LOL. Yeah I wish. I believe T is just referring to Carrie’s interview comments about George’s perversions.
Maybe Carrie was down form Bipolar and was given medication so it wouldn’t be a sad Leia, and then she got a stoned look… Maybe is all i’m saying…
Heh, not according to her auto-bio “Wishful Drinking.” Still hot, of course.
In other threads, I haven’t been commenting much but I have been reading. Thanks for suffering through the Holiday Special to bring us these hard-won gems.
I would like to let everybody know that tomorrow is Admiral Ackbar day !
Star Wars, the musical? wtf? What in the name of the FSM was Lucas thinking? I expect this level of crap from Glen Larson.
You know, honestly…
Carrie doesn’t look stoned to me. She looks tired, beat. Like the de-facto leader of The Rebellion should.
I agree with you, now you mention it. We can definitely rationalize her drowsiness by attributing it to what she’s been through. HOWEVER, we can also put it down to drugs too! 😉
So, she was just using the drugs, sacrificing her health, for the sake of making her acting performance better, right?
What a trooper!
😉
(P.S. I never saw the Holiday Special before, and was only dimly aware of its existence, so I’m rather enjoying reading your parody strips first, THEN watching the Holiday Special segment they’re based on. I suspect that the HS shares some elements in common with the movie “Cool World” – far more entertaining when you’re under the effect of some mind-altering substance! Not that I would know anything about that, of course … 😉 )
Just watched this – finally. I had to be half-cut with wine on a Friday night to do it.
It’s my favourite clip so far – I love the commercial break! What a journey back in time to the 70s!
I’ll never forget the interview (Letterman? Something like that) where, when talking about the Jabba costume in ROTJ she said something about seeing Florida or something.
Never did get that but it sure stuck with me.
😉
