Complicated Smuggler
Notice anything different about Han? Things are changing as we start towards the final run of side stories before The Empire Strikes Back. Splinter of the Mind’s Eye will start the first week of September, with TESB following at the end of October. Someone asked if we were going to handle the Ord Mantell Bounty Hunter in BMS, and the answer is YES, it is our intention to work him in before TESB begins. However, for continuity reasons, he should appear directly before TESB. This is due to Han Solo’s comment at the start of the film which implies the Ord Mantell encounter was a recent event.
Hope you like the photo of the Shadow Stormtrooper from Star Wars: Celebration V. Both he and Smoking Jawa (photos please!!) did BMS a great service over the weekend by handing out Blue Milk Special promotional cards to passersby, and sittersdown (as pictured). All the promo cards were given out! We thought 2000 FREE promo cards would end be a lot, as we’ve had trouble giving things out (even for free) at comic cons in the past. Evidently it helps to be at a Star Wars specific show with dedicated volunteers in awesome costumes. We will have an additional 2000 promo cards (the same type given out at Celebration V) at Baltimore Comic Con on Sat-Sun August 28-29 and New York Comic Con on Fri-Sun October 8-10. So there is another chance for folks to pick a couple up. Speaking of costumes and Celebration V, we hope to see some photos from the event in the next few days, so please share your links.
You may also have noticed that we are now only using one WebComic listing site and have dropped the others. Please only vote for us at TopWebComics.com as it is the only site whose maintenance and policing we have faith in. Lately we’ve seen too many WebComics get away with cheating on the smaller listing sites and it makes participation with those sites seem pointless. We hope this will make it easier for you to continue to vote for us daily.
Oh hey, I almost forgot. Remember a while back I posted about my comic book project? It’s now titled Once Upon a Caper, and is slated for early October. We will have it with us for New York Comic Con and it will be available to purchase online in advance. I’ve revamped the website which has an 8 page preview along with some new pinup pieces by some great artists. Leanne is working on the front cover this week. After the issue debuts we will begin work together on a series of adventures starring the main characters. I don’t want to give away too much. I’d rather entice you to check out the 8 page preview and information on the website. So, if you’d like to try my other work and want to get a taste of what Leanne and I are cooking up then head on over to www.onceuponacaper.com.
hey, i’m just wondering. are you guys thinking of doing a “shadow of the empire” parody after TESB?
We’re not really “thinking” about it, but several people keep pestering us about it and I’ve decided to give it some thought next year. Depends on whether we still have any readers by then and whether we don’t get shut down. 🙂
Shut dow.. what the f..? Eh?
Well, you see Lucasfilm taking down video on YouTube taken from the Luke’s Lightsaber teaser screening. The dude took it with a handy cam and the quality wasn’t good, but they shut it down. Just saying there’s always that concern that we might show Gary Kurtz too much love over Lucas. 😉
True enough
TWC is the only WebComic listing that I vote on, and I vote for you every day!
(It’s the least I can do, since being 3 paychecks behind makes it difficult to buy … well, pretty much anything … )
😉
Sorry to hear about your paycheck situation, Tek. Voting for us daily is more than we could expect from our readers and we are very grateful for the continuing support. Don’t forget to shoot me an email if you want a copy of our FREE promo cards. I’ll set them aside before the upcoming comic cons so you don’t miss out. This goes for all our readers who have supported us but are unable to attend our shows. Email bluemilkspecial@gmail.com and put Promo Cards in the subject line.
Oh I like today’s strip! Talk about Han missing the point. Ah yes, the new costume. It’s funny how much more styled Solo was in the ESB. More 80s than 70s.
That’s it – I’m doing up some promo cards too. No more procrastination! Got a Star Wars show coming up in 4 weeks!
We used OvernightPrints.com and they are international. Check them out.
Verrrrrry inter-esting. Thanks Rodders.
Leanne’s a marvelous stylist! He looks smashing! X )
On behalf of Leanne, “thank you!”. I colored it though, so I want to steal a tiny bit of the credit. 🙂
Oooo, he had a TEAM of stylists working on his look! That’s very fancy-schmancy!
I love that you try to cover events that are just mentioned in passing in the films. Looking forward to your take on the bounty hunter.
This is the Han Solo we all know and love.
Greedy, self centered, well dressed and over-confident, the makings of a true hero!
BTW my 5-year-old asked me why they have brown, white and pink milk in the stores, but I have to make him blue milk when he wants some. I told him Blue MIlk was way to special for the regular people at the store, and was only for really good boys and girls. It’s nice to know that I am nurturing a whole new generation of geeks. 😉
Brown milk? You mean chocolate? I hope that’s what you mean.
He’s 5 he calls them by color, not flavor (at least I hope so).
The funny thing is he (and his 3- year old brother) both think that milk tastes better died blue.
This could put the “Nestlie’s Quick” rabbit out of business.
There’s a marketing slogan right there. “Milk tastes better dyed blue.”
Blue Milk Tastes Better when You’ve Died
I would just like to point out that there is such a thing as blue bunnies.
I think josh has one with us together….My camera went crazy on the last day and some of the photos are on josh’s camera and the other on another bro’s camera. I’ve got one of the smoking jawa stealing a snowspeeder somewhere…….
You’ve been far too generous with postings of the Jawa and myself. We were both more than happy to help out this great site. I very much enjoy reading this and hope any help I was able to give can ensure that I do so. Long live BMS and anything I can do in the future is but only yours to ask.
Man I Love Blue Milk!!!
Hey Rod, I dunno if you’ve seen this yet but check this link out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHtsEniV5Gw It’s BRILLIANT!!
Talking about what brown milk really is/means, have anyone seen that part of austin powers 2, where he takes a cup of coffe, which actually contains Fat Bastard’s “cast offs”? hilarious scene. “Is it just me or does this coffe taste like shit (in queens english, way more hilarious!)?” “That’s because it is shit, austin…” “Oh, good, I thought it was just me (continues to slurp)” xD
Funnily enough, those were the gags that I liked LEAST about Austin Powers! Apart from the odd joke featuring a toilet, so far BMS has avoided going quite that far. Nasty nasty….
The rebel general there reminds me of Dr Robotnik from the Sonic the Hedgehog games. Something about the mustaches.
You’re in for a treat.
