Dramatic introduction
Well, it seems some changes are in order. First up, we’ve decided to drop the voting incentives. That means no more previews of the forthcoming strip. At our height we cracked the Top 10 of TopWebComics.com and its been thanks to your support, but we seem to have reached our peak. We’ve built a strong following since the early days and hope to find other places to get this comic to new readers. Suggestions and help promoting Blue Milk Special are very welcome!
Want a Blue Milk Special pinup?
If you like the Death Star Class of ’77 pinup, you can get a free print (11″x 17″ inches, hi-quality card stock) mailed to you either with the purchase of more than one sketchcard and Artbook Vol. 1 or Sketchbook 2012, or by trading an action figure in exchange. There’s also the Blue Milk Special 2011 Group Pinup which has only been available to readers who have met us at conventions. These prints are NOT FOR SALE, but you can still get them from us. If you purchase either a Leanne Hannah Artbook or a Sketchbook you have the option of commissioning a personal sketchcard of a character of your choice (doesn’t have to be Star Wars). As long as you’ve already commissioned 1 card, you can commission as many more from Leanne as you like. As a special thank you, I will mail you one of the prints while my supplies last.
Another way to get either print, is to trade with me for one of the Star Wars action figures I want. My want list is from the Original Trilogy and I’ll email an up-to-date list to you if you are interested in this option. I’ve already arranged for an Ephant Mon coming all the way from Germany! Sweet!
As for the sketchcards and artbooks… oh my god! Some of you have been spoiled with some great work from Leanne. It’s a great way to support Blue Milk Special and we give a big thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to purchase a book and request a unique sketchcard of their own. I hope you enjoy this sample of some of her cards mailed out to readers. Which character would YOU want to get?
Leanne also posts the sketchcards she draws on Twitter. There are more than those shown above, so a great way to see the rest is to follow her on Twitter if you have your own account.
Be a guest Star Wars expert on the podcast
We plan to record Podcast episode 3 in the next few days. In future episodes we would like to extend an open invitation to readers with Skype to join us as guests. If you consider yourself an expert in a particular aspect of the Star Wars universe or fandom then we’d love to get your perspective into the show. Subjects such as the Expanded Universe, video games, toy collecting, cosplaying, webcomics, comics, books, behind-the-scenes trivia, Prequels, Clone Wars etc etc… If you have a great Star Wars related anecdote or memory that you think should be shared, let me know.
We currently have a poll asking you to vote for your favorite product/story from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. If you’re an Expanded Universe fan then consider joining the Star Wars Expanded Universe Fans on Facebook. Tell them BMS sent you!
Our last poll asked what readers thought of the sale of LucasFilm to Disney. Here are the results:
Overall, there is a general sense of goodwill toward the Disney Star Wars future, though the vast majority of voters remain on the fence. Though the negative reaction was loud online (particularly on Facebook), it seems to have been more of knee jerk reaction.
“The Force isβ HACK! Hack! Hack! Hackety-hack!Cough! Wheeze! HAAAAACK!!!β ahem, with you Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet.”
Now I’m imagining Vader with the voice of the Albino in The Princess Bride…
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Unbelievably awesome cards from Leanne.
Of course, that sexy Rodian gunslinger is the best one. π
It seems that my comment on the last strip was moderated…
Not quite sure why, but what I wanted to say remains the same–I really like the podcasts, and look forward to the next one.
I didn’t moderate it! It shows up for me. Here: http://www.bluemilkspecial.com/?p=6429#comment-15879
Huh. The link worked fine and showed me the comment. I’m a little confused as to why my phone hid it from me before. Oh, well. Glad everything’s all set. I thought I had said something wrong at first.
Woot thats my IRG card up there. I love it btw great work.
Yes, Darth Vader could definitely turn off his breather when he wanted to sneak up on Luke. Or maybe he just set it on “silent” mode.
The carbonite room was such a cool set!
Correction… it was such a HOT set! All that steam!
Could that steam have come from dry ice? If it did, it’s back to “cool set”! π
It was a HOT set. π Check out the article I wrote on it. http://www.bluemilkspecial.com/?p=5904
Oops. Apparently those details didn’t stick when I read that article the first time. But I guess they’ll stick for a while now. π
I’ve been waiting a long time to see how you begin their first encounter.
You did not disappoint! π
Well… their first film encounter… they did meet already in Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, which we parodied. π http://www.bluemilkspecial.com/?p=2705
Sweet!
Please consider a print: The opening scene, lights on the steps, with Vader standing on top of the steps. That would be EPIC!
I wonder if he has an asthma inhalers with a Star Trek Logo on it?
By the WAY, I made a Homer Simpson “DOH!”, after hunting furiously for the voting link.
Next time I’ll read the blog, before making a @$$ out of myself! π
I instinctively voted this morning too. I have the vote site bookmarked and its been a routines for years now. It’ll take a while to break that habit.
I still vote for Digger, where the story officially ended almost 2 years ago (and has since won a Hugo). I’ll probably keep voting for BMS until my voting finger stops working.
π
I was always fond of Vader’s uncanny ability to talk and breathe simultaneously.
Brilliant! I never thought of that gag.
Sorry, that would appear to suggest that I thought of all of your other ones first – hence the surprise!
Excellent strip! That Shadow Stormtrooper card is pretty great too! π
Well, I’m a pretty big behind the scenes nerd, if you’re ever in need of one. π
And I extend my lols to this strip.
Hee-hee – I always wondered how Vader stayed quiet for so long! lol
