Forced surrender
It’s a Skyhook. What is a skyhook, you ask? Well, it’s the big bad guy’s battle station thing, that’s what! And you thought the name Death Star was bad ass! Well, Vader wasn’t impressed.
Let’s recap. Prince Xizor was being a dick to Vader throughout Shadows of the Empire, but Vader didn’t know just how far the pheromone prince was prepared to go. Thanks to Vader’s little pal, Jix, who was taking a break from background roles in Mad Max movies, the Dark Lord learns that Xizor was trying to discredit him in the eyes of the Emperor by murdering his son, Luke Skywalker. Maybe Vader also sensed what Xizor tried to do to his daughter. Whatever the reason, Vader didn’t have time for Xizor’s shit anymore.
Xizor’s death occurs offscreen when his Skyhook blows up. But Vader wanted to deliver his message personally in our version of events. It seemed more satisfying to us. The image of the Skyhook in today’s strip was photo-manipulated from the 3D mesh and render by Velseen.
Top 5 Interwebs has ranked Blue Milk Special their #1 webcomic! Yay! Thank you, Top 5! Check out their other webcomic recommendations and why not leave them a comment with your own list?
On a separate note, how about reading BMS on your phone or tablet? A few weeks ago I posted about the Comic Rocket App for Droid that you can download from the Google Play Store. The app is great, but it’s not the only one out there… Thanks to Angelo Mollame, Blue Milk Special is one of the first webcomic strips on the new Carbon Webcomic Reader.
Carbon Webcomic Reader is also available from the Play store for Droid users. The app differs in that it only downloads the webcomic strip itself, and doesn’t waste time downloading the whole website. This speeds up reading of your favorite webcomics. Admittedly, I like to think that some of my blog entries are interesting, but I do support the idea of people being able to have ease of use on their mobile devices when a good signal is sometimes hard to find.
Been there myself! Here’s a word from Angelo Mollame:
“While writing Carbon, I focused on all the features that I found lacking in the other web comic readers. Most of all, I focused on two features that are critical in a comic reader designed for portable devices like smartphones and tablets, which usually have limited bandwidth and small screens:
Download times. Carbon reduces download times by just downloading the comic strip, and nothing else. This allows Carbon to run smoothly even on devices with limited bandwidth.
Strip viewing. Carbon allows the user to use the entire screen to visualize what he is, after all, most interested in when browsing comics: the strip itself. This is another reason why Carbon only downloads the comic strip, and nothing else. This gives the user a great reading experience even on devices with very small screens.”
Try out Carbon Webcomic Reader and test drive this speedy little app. I’m sure Angelo and webcomic readers will appreciate improved reading experiences with your help and feedback.
Excellent job on the first panel!
And I agree, having Vader kill Xizor before the Skyhook blows up is a lot more satisfying than knowing he just went down with the ship. 😉
Xizor forgot how strong the forciness is with Vader!
Epic opening panel!
Xizor got what he deserved. Such a perv. : P
I love that Vader never has to put down his latte to drop some forciness on someone. : D
LOL! That phrase needs to be on a macro.

CAPTION: ‘Scuse me while I drop some forciness up in this piece.
Ok, so.
This strip, for the last 3some-odd years (or however long it’s been going) has been consistently funny. This is the first time you guys took things into a relatively serious and dark direction. It was eye-poppingly surprising. But it was also really well done. This makes me now want to read more of whatever else you’re doing. I don’t know if that was deliberate, but you’ve hooked me.
Thanks! I’m aware of most of our flaws, so I’m not letting any praise go to my head, but comments like this make me feel good. Thanks so much for reading and I’m glad we’ve kept you around for so long!
I liked the drawing of the skyhook, for some reason my mind went blank on what they looked like since they were never showed in the movies. i had the feeling those were expensive since not alot of them were made or i could be wrong.
That must have been the one thing that was missing from SotE.
Now can we move over to the real Kingpin of crime. The most slugyist of slugs (certainly the only one I’ve ever seen in a desert). And see him choke to death because of second hand smoke (that would be a twist, you can steal that if you want).
This is way more satisfying to me too! Xixor really did have it coming. Squished like a grape – perfect!
Rod and Leanne Hannah:
For your selfless, and talented, act of going the extra mile to “Wack” the Bastard formally, and formerly, known as Prince Xizor (AKA the Anti Biggs), with Sith-like style and grace, I hereby award you 1,000,000 BMS FAN points.*
* Redeemable at the local Piggly Wiggly (as well as a variety of other retail establishments) for absolutely nothing.
Please feel free to Kill Xizor again any time you want, even if it is completely out of context or continuity. 🙂
Thank You:
T. Gatto
Hear, hear!
You can kill Xizor any time you want. Maybe next time the late Biggs will do it? He can kill his ghost? *snickers* 😀
Oo! Hey! He could be the Kenny McCormick of your series!
“Oh, my God! They killed Xizor!”
“You, ba– wait. Thanks.”
I have read this whole strip from the beginning, and u guys keep getting better…. its one of my fav web comics, and I can’t wait to see what u guys have in store for return of the jedi….
So, what is going to happen when you finish ROTJ? Will you delve into the Thrawn books. while waiting for the new Star Wars?
Is it me or does the Skyhook look like something out of the James Bond Moonraker movie?
Great webcomic. I just started reading it recently and I’m trying to catch up through your archives. What’d you use to draw the ships? Google sketchup models or something? Absurd detail. Bravo.
Yes. I am now starting to use Sketchup as I take over more of the 3D posing. None of the models are designed by the BMS team though except for the inflatable Millennium Falcon flotation devices during the Story of the Faithful Wookiee parody. That was done by the talented Geoffrey Padilla. More info and credits for 3D models on our “About” page.
