Full Metal Bikini
Leia doesn’t look like she’s going to climb onto that throne with Jabba without some convincing. And I guess Jabba doesn’t mind the smell of smoke what with his hookah pipe and bong, or whatever the hell that thing is next to him.
Now that we’ve reached the metal bikini milestone, it might be time to reflect upon childhood crushes and sexual awakenings. That ground has been well trodden by geeks across the blogosphere and in mainstream print for years. Truth is, I’ve always loved Carrie Fisher’s personality and the attitude she gave Leia. Stripping her down to an exotic, Deja Thoris bra and cloth is just a distraction to me. A pleasant one, from my point of view, but not a point in the trilogy where Leia actually shines. This time around, it’s BMS Leia, and she’s a little edgier than the real Leia, so we’ll have to see how closely she can follow the script.
Oh, by the way, we’ve been working on something…
Yesterday, the website for the project Leanne and I have been working on for the past few months finally went live. This is our new children’s series called Hickory Hippo, which follows Hickory and his animal friends. Each story sees the little hippo exploring his magical world and problem-solving to help talking snowmen, aquatic cats, hungry platypuses and more!
We are very proud of this little series of ours and hope others who enjoy BMS and have children, or just like fun children’s series, might be willing to support us and check it out. The partial website is now up and we are accepting pre-orders, and the full site will go live in April. There are three different packages to choose from, each with their own batch of goodies.
Goodies include: a copy of the book, a Hickory Hippo bookmark, a 4″ x 6″ Hickory Hippo magnet, four collectible pin-back buttons featuring Hickory and his friends, and an 11″ x 17″ Hickory Hippo print.

After years and years and years of perusing what’s available online (I’m desperately trying to come up with a family-friendly euphemism for porn but failing miserably), I’ve discovered more of an appreciation of Leia in her original white robes from the first film than the metal underwear.
Somehow, the mysterious curves hinted at within whenever she runs or twists is sexier than having her expose as much as she did in Jedi.
I like the Carrie spin on the situation! And Jabba’s dialogue sounds like it maybe should have a bit of an Irish brogue to it. You in there, Declan?
I’ll probably pick up a copy of Hickory Hippo at Awesome Con. I think I’m going to like aquatic cat a lot!

I’ll admit it — I’ve never understood the fuss over the bikini. Maybe because I was eight when it came out and geeked over RotJ. Maybe because I’m female, even if I can appreciate Bettie Page. But every time a fan goes ga-ga over the bikini I can only raise an eyebrow and say ‘I don’t get it.’
That aside.. loved this comic. 🙂
