Glory Hound
A reminder, Blue Milk Special has been, and always will be free. It will never be collected in print, we’re sad to say. It’s a matter of licensing, and I honestly think our work is too amateur, and possibly too adult at times, to ever get an approval for commercial sale. However, you can donate or purchase our T-shirt with our logo, or you can support us through Patreon.
We thought we would share a couple of the sketchcards Leanne has illustrated for our supporters on Patreon. There are various levels of support for different reward packages, though you can give as little as $1 dollar a month to receive hi-res art panels from each strip.
Higher levels include sketchcards like the two that are pictured in today’s blog. It’s up to you what you ask for, but I thought the user requests for Porkins, as well as Han Solo dressed as Superman provide good examples of the sort of zany creativity that you can come up with. Thanks Matthew and Ricardo!
Patreon is a way to support me as a writer / artist and my various projects, which naturally has the spin off effect of helping keep Blue Milk Special sailing along. It is also a way to interact more privately with myself and discuss the strips before they are published. One of the perks of subscribing to my Patreon account includes seeing the upcoming strip a day or so early before it gets published here on the official website for Blue Milk Special. And we set a milestone support goal to bring back Boba Fett from the dead in the Return of the Jedi storyarc which was unlocked in late December 2014. So Boba fans, you owe our Patreon supporters a thank you for his impending return. 😉
Unfortunately this doesn’t go without saying, since fly-by-night visitors to this website often miss the fact that we do not print and sell Blue Milk Special. It is free to read online. All support comes in the form of donations from readers who want to support what we do which, without their help, is entirely out of our own pocket. As fans, love for illustration, cartooning and science fiction is the driving force that is bringing us to our sixth anniversary in February… however, we would genuinely have pulled the plug after I lost my job if not for the massive support we received from readers through my GoFundMe campaign. I am considered Leanne’s child at the moment by a messed up Health Care system and have had to forego several doctor appointments and pain medication for my spine due to the costs. My health was the reason I lost my job in the first place. Patreon helps build on the ability for me to continue working on Blue Milk Special without a day job or regular paycheck.
If you want to join the Patreon bandwagon and support me then the Forciness be with you! If not, continue to enjoy BMS and our final year of our parody of the Original Trilogy. It doesn’t cost you anything.
Just loving the attitude on BMS Ackbar … Makes you wonder if it is something from his past, or is he cynical due to a need for the coffee those bloody Bothans failed to deliver.
Man, too bad you ran out of space in the briefing room. I’m thinking it would have been fun to have Red Dwarf and crew in there too.
In what universe does the Serenity count as a cruiser? If that is how you are typing ships, then the Falcon would be considered a frigate, and Home 1 would be a superdreadnought or a monitor, and Executioner a leviathan…
Well, I could just not include the Serenity at all and remove the Firefly characters altogether, if that would make you feel better. Or you could just get over Ackbar’s inaccurate terminology. 🙂
Actually, Ackbar said “our cruisers, including…” He didn’t say that he considered the additional ships cruisers, just that the following ships supplemented the Rebel cruisers. Fighting anal with anal. 😉
At moments like this, I like to quote MST3000:
“Just repeat to yourself “It’s just a show, I should really just relax…”
There. Settled. 🙂
I choose to read that last panel in a completely serious, non-sarcastic tone.
You know Ackbar is scopin’ out the ladies. Hopin’ to get some “trap” later, amirite?
The admiral might want to take a hose to the overly excitable general. There are probably some around, since it’s a calamari ship, and all!
Definitely liking your spin on Lando.
I don”t think that I will ever see him quite the same way again…
Looks like all my late night discussions of whether or not the Galactica or a Star Destroyer would come out on top in a fight are about to be settled.
Finally I will know who wins in a fight, the Galactica or a Star Destroyer!
Hey I have been a long time reader and I just wanted to say thanks for the great work and as soon as I will definitely make a donation. Keep up the good work! May the schwarts be with you
May the schwarts be with you also!
Is this where I point out that “it’s just Serenity”? 😛
Seriously though, if someone figures out a way to put all those ships in the same battle with X-Wings, Tie Fighters and Super Star Destroyers it would be the greatest thing ever. Aside from this comic, of course. 😉
I guess Ackbar has a lot to learn about Firefly.
