Guri, Xizor’s Bodyguard
The book / audio adaptation stresses that Guri is a perfect replica of a woman, indistinguishable from the real thing. Except of course, everyone who is around her seems to think something is a little odd. Not so perfect then… huh? A soon as I read the description of her in the book, I knew how I wanted to portray her. The BMS version of Guri was inspired by the cyborg woman from Superman III with a blonde wig but in Guri’s 90’s X-men-esque outfit.
“Guri was beautiful with long blonde hair. Clear blue eyes. There was a coolness about her that was easily explained if you knew she was an HRD– a human replica droid—…she could pass for a woman anywhere in the galaxy. She was his personal assistant, and the only one of her kind programmed to be an assassin! She’d cost him $9 million credits. She was worth every deca-cred. Beautiful and deadly. This was a combination he enjoyed.” – transcribed from the abridged audi adaptation of Shadows of the Empire

i had figured she looked perfectly human.. but like Data from trek, her personality was more mechanical than human, so people would find her odd.
Hilarious!! The fact that she has a lazy eye just adds to the allure… 😀
I wonder if she’s related to Richie Rich’s maid Rosie the robot?
It’s obvious why she’s weird. She’s a named female EU character and she’s not a redhead.
actually this brings to mind the old Bionic Woman Enemies the Fembots, (am I showing my age)
Ja!… its funny to see how bad is feeling Xizor after pai9ng $9 million of credits.
Oh man, that scene from Superman III gave me nightmares as a kid. Thanks for reminding me of those. Nghghghghghg *shuddeer*
My guess is that; if Guri doesn’t nag Xizor, she will NEVER seem quite normal.
Rosie was the Jetson’s maid, I believe, not Richie Rich’s. He had a butler – and Guri is fantastic. I never read this or heard it or anything, so I’m looking forward to this chapter
Love the gradual reveal and use of bold text. A thing of beauty she is!
I didn’t read any of the supplemental stuff like SotE when it came out and I’m beginning to think I made the right choice. Wait, I did read SotME and HSatLL, so that’s not completely true. I have to admit, I enjoyed them, but I was twelve so you’ll cut me some slack.
Both took liberties that offended my tween-aged fan-boy mind, though. SotE would have really [REDACTED] me off. Many of my friends had read it and gushed. Glad I had sufficient apathy to avoid it.
That you are lampooning it so thoroughly is a justly deserved fate. The folks responsible for this fan-fiction styled epic should also find a place somewhere in these next few strips. Preferably hoisted on the end of a pike. Or a lightsaber. Just as good.
I’m just happy to finally know the origin of a few pieces of fan art and random Star Wars cheesecake and comic cut outs I’ve seen over the years.
If I remember correctly didn’t Xizor use Guri as his personal sex toy if there were no actual females available? That’d make her the galaxy’s most expensive Fleshlight
Well, she was apparently worth every Deca-Cred!
Does it really read “$9 million credits”? That hurts my brain. An editor should have caught that. You either use the currency symbol, or you state the currency. Not both! Certainly not the symbol for dollars and then state credits!
