When he died, Kenobi became more than just a man. He became an IDEA, and ideas are laser-proof.
Seriously, think about it. In dying, Kenobi motivated Luke to actively become a Jedi, and in doing so Luke motivated people across the Galaxy against the Empire. This would have been unthinkable to Vader (or anyone else in the Empire) as of this point in “A New Hope”, thus making Kenobi more powerful then Vader could imagine.
That’s a great explanation! And something that was probably missed by a lot of us as children viewing Star Wars.
