I’m not talking to him
We’ve moved to a once a week schedule. That is, once per week unless we feel like putting up another. This is one of those weeks where you’ll get two. Next week there should be a new voting incentive strip as well as the regular Monday strip update.
Recently Leanne learned that a guy was using her artwork without permission to print and sell T-shirts for his own profit. Of course, this is a form of art theft and against the rules of the very site that provided the T-shirt printing service. She spent a whole morning dealing with this and drafting a complaint to the company RedBubble while this asshole made a fortune from her work. Well, it’s not really like he made much, if anything, but considering that this discovery was by chance, what is upsetting is to think of how much art theft goes on all the time that artists will never know about.
Leanne generally watermarks her work for online display, though the piece in question had been published in a magazine and could have been scanned by the thief. The situation was resolved the following evening when the website, RedBubble, removed the guy’s product and sent Leanne a notification. Although Leanne sent them an official complaint, many of our friends and readers also helped by posting comments and sending RedBubble emails to alert them to this user’s activity. So, we want to thank you all for your support. 🙂 Perhaps that is why you get this second BMS strip this week?!
Love it. Vader can be so petulant.
Glad Leanne’s bother got sorted. If there’s anything to learn from the recent Granitogate, it’s that this kind of scummery is rife.
Congratulations on your recent promotion Sgt. TK8008, it’s nice to know promotions work the same in every bureaucracy. 😉
A friend just bought me a copy of “The Galactic Phrase Book and Travel Guide: Beeps, Bleats, Boskas, and Other Common Intergalactic Verbiage”; if anyone gets a chance to pick one up in the Star Wars section of your local book store I’d highly recommend it. The book was first published in 2001, and I don’t know how I missed it for so long, but the best parts are the illustrations by Sergio Aragones.
Sounds interesting! I will look it up on Amazon.
I’ve got a copy of it in my basement of bottomless Star Wars delights – I’ll look for it for you, Rod. Give me 3 months.
LOL. It’s okay, Neil. But thanks! I can afford to spoil myself now and then. Fortunately. 🙂
People can be so sleazy. I’m glad you found out about the theft and got the problem corrected.
T. Gatto, I’m going to look for that book immediately.
Any chance REDBUBBLE will provide his contact information so you can post it here? I know many of us who read your lovely comic would love to “THANK” him HARD! Just sayin’…
I’m really starting to enjoy this comic. I’m amazed at how you can come up withj so many jokes & merge them with the star wars saga so easily. Great work!
Only just starting to enjoy it? Jeez! We need to work harder! 🙂
I know! Right? Sheesh!
NOT cool about Leanne’s artwork being stolen. Very glad that action was taken to help remove the offender’s ill-gotten items from RedBubble’s site.
Vader is so passive-aggressive! All that forciness and not much of a clue. X D
Damn it. All too soon I’m caught up.
Btw…I love the storm troooper giving Vader rabbit ears.
It makes sense it wouldn’t be Vader’s phone – he’s probably hooked up with a wifi set right there in his helmet – uses his eyes to dial)
(Probably plays “Angry Birds” all day too)
;P
