Jedi Training Manual
In Shadows of the Empire we learn that upon returning to Tatooine, Luke found Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Training Manual in his old hut. He thusly made use of a local circus’ trapeze and acrobatics department to hone his oneness with the Force on the highwire. This is not the most riveting diversion in the book, and in the heavily abridged audio adaptation there are sounds of alien monkeys in the background. Luke WALKS the highwire and nearly loses his balance when his confidence gets ahead of him and he treads dangerously close to the Dark Side, namely the floor! I decided to approach the scene from different angle, as always.
If you want to see anything specific appear in BMS: Shadows of the Empire then speak up now and we will consider it. I’m not looking to do a thorough scene-by-scene parody for Shadows… more of a highlights reel. So there is a good chance certain elements might be overlooked. You can shoot me an email at bluemilkspecial @ gmail . com and talk to me about anything at all, really.
Major League Baseball is back this week! And now a reminder that Leanne needs help sharing the information below.
Have you ever wanted to support an artist you like? Now is a great time to help out Leanne. As you know this talented girl illustrates Blue Milk Special and her quirky cartoon style inspired the project. Well, we don’t want to infringe on LucasFilm so we rely on the occasional donation or sketch card season to help us out. However, Leanne, a big fan of Baltimore sports teams, illustrated this cute Raven and Oriole “Your Turn” pic a month ago, but now it’s available as a T-shirt officially through PressBox. Whether you’re a fan of the teams or not, chances are you know someone who will appreciate it. In that case we ask that you help Leanne out by letting those people know. Share the PressBox store page on Facebook, Twitter, email, phone… or just good old face-to-face conversation with your friends. There’s a good chance that by doing so, you’ll help have a positive impact on Leanne’s little heart. 🙂
In the future, Leanne will once again take sketch card commissions for a limited time. It’s a way that we can give you something that you can own which is a piece of BMS without actually mass producing a collected book, which will never happen because it will infringe on LucasFilm copyright. So, from one fan to another, if you like what we’re doing, and if you like following Leanne’s illustrations, then helping us spread the word would be deeply appreciated!
We will also be appearing together at the ANS Sci-Fi & Comic-Con in La Plata, Maryland on Saturday May 11. Guests include Frank Cho and the 501st Legion’s Old Line Garrison. If you are in the region and a fan, then you might want to think about making the journey to the show. Doors open at 10am and close at 5pm. Between ourselves and the Old Line Garrison we will ensure that there is a strong Star Wars presence at the show. Sketches, a panel with Leanne, a special 501st / BMS ceremony and more! It will be a lot of fun!
This is amazing! Spot on! Looking forward to the introduction of Lirpa Loof – love that yuzzem.
And a happy April Fools to you too Ben!
Good training!
They could always put the Skywalkers in a freak show: “Step right up Ladies and Gentleman, and see the Force Using Cyborg, and his children the Kissing Twin Jedis”.
Has a better ring than the bearded Hutt, Bald Wampa, or the Honest Jawa… 😉
BTW So jealous I can not see the Legion’s ceremony! 🙁
Did I mention how much better this is than the real SHadows Of The Empire? Love your take on it…
A circus highwire act on Tatooine? Was that really in the book, or is this an April Fool’s joke? Yeah, I read the book when it was published, but I didn’t care for it enough to reread it since then. If there really was a circus on Tatooine, it’s no wonder I’ve purged it from my mind.
Well, I guess Luke figured there was no rush to rescue Han because he was all frozen and stuff. A week, a month, what difference would it make? Sure, Threepio seemed surprised to see him still frozen in Return of the Jedi, but no one ever tells him anything.
Ha ha! Good one!
I did find that scene rather weird…
