My home this is!
Yay, All Blacks! The Rugby World Cup 2011 is over! Good job, Les Bleus. You brought your A-game, but in the end the All Blacks won a fierce arm wrestle and New Zealand (the hosts) are once again the World Champions! We stayed up all Saturday night to catch the game live from 4 AM to 6 AM. Man, we are still trying to recover and poor Leanne could not sleep with the daylight streaming in.
I know very few of our readers probably care, particularly as the majority of our fans are from the USA and parts of the world where Rugby is not well known, but for me, being a New Zealander, this is one of those moments where I am proud of the tiny nation of just 4.4 million people standing up and getting noticed in a positive way on the world stage. The All Blacks, the Americas Cup and Lord of the Rings have helped put New Zealand on the map. Seriously, check world maps on shows and news programs, usually New Zealand (just to the right and south just a little from Australia) gets chopped off and no one cares because NZ isn’t exactly worth noticing, right? Hats off to the copious Forciness of captain Richie McCaw! You are a legend! If I could work you into BMS I would, but the readers would probably kill me!
We are counting down the days until the weekend when we will be out among the fans at Virginia Comic Con once again. What a great way to kick start your Halloween by coming on down to creepy Richmond and meeting two fellow Star Wars fans who make a silly webcomic! 😉
This will be our final show of the year. This is a great opportunity for you to pick up a Blue Milk Special or Kill Lucas pinup, free promo cards, get a personal sketch from Leanne or myself, talk about Star Wars, etc. We will be there both Saturday and Sunday so you have two chances to catch up with us.
It will be held in Crowne Plaza West in Richmond, VA.
Admission is $10 per person (for the entire weekend).
Free for kids under 12.
Look for what remains of our exclusive limited edition BMS print at our table along with free promo cards, see below.
We have a new voting incentive strip. It is part 1 in a 3 part series that will appear at TopWebComics.com in the next three weeks. Part 2 will probably appear at the end of this week as a final effort to boost our end of month rank. Hope you enjoy and thank you for continuing to vote daily!
The blue background is there to conceal the tricks behind the special effects, isn’t it, now I know the tricks behind this comic.
I like the BMS Yoda, both for appearance and personality. Well done both of you, great work as usual.
YAY new BMS! my gosh Luke is such a jerk, haha. Yoda looks so sad in that last panel. Whack him with your stick, little buddy! hard, and where it hurts!!
Another rofl-worthy strip. Also, how much are the sketches(not that I can make it to VA Comicon, but I will come to Baltimore)?
I can’t guarantee prices a year from now, but at VA Comic Con next weekend it will be Prints $10, Sketch Card (inks and graytones) $20, pencil drawing $20, inked drawing $30, graytone drawing $50.
Most pictures are limited to one character, with two or more possible upon discussion and dependent on the complexity and time involved.
Oh sure New Sealand. I’ve heard of that! Its a province of Tasmania, right? 😉
I’ve heard the only indiginous mammal there was the “Bit”, so perhaps you can confirm. A bit of what I wonder? A hobbit?
BTW, great gag today. I got a good chuckle.
Thanks! Glad it’s being received well.
Poor Yoda, the truth hurts sometimes. };)
Hmm, get whats coming to him he will.
Woah, mind blown that your a kiwi!! love the comic and that game was one hell of a nail biter!
Yeah. It was difficult to enjoy at the time. I plan to re-watch it sometime soon so I can get the most of out it. I did rewatch the last 3 minutes and it was a great feeling reliving the moment without the the colly wobbles in the tummy.
How the hell did Yoda end up in that hole anyway?
Congrats on the World Cup. NZ is a place I’d really like to visit someday. Amazing scenery. The most I’ve seen on TV about NZ was ‘Once were warriors’! I had a best friend from there as a kid but he moved back to Rotorua around ’81.
Haha I just realized that you could go by “Jack White”. You probably already knew that. But it’s still cool.
He is indeed cool 🙂
LOVE the big cast pic! Looks great! And I see Leia is in her Cloud City couture. And Tarkin’s in there! Eeee! X D
Go NZ! 🙂 Always wanted to go there.
Poor Yoda living in a dump for 18 years just so some smart kid can come be rude about it.
TOTALLY tempting to forego NYCC next year and meet you in Virginia instead. If only the budget allowed me to go to both. Heavens, I didn’t even have the budget to go to the ONE, but I still made it.
Oh well, I’m looking forward to more Yoda. Interesting so far. But moreso, I’m awaiting your report from VA Con. Say hi to Mr. T.’s milk cartons for me.
Will do! How did NYCC go for you? Feel free to post a link to your blog if you made one on the adventure! 🙂
Sweet, and yes I did! ‘Tis a semi-short one that can be read here: http://citruscomics.com/2011/10/comiccon-the-report/
Now you’re a convention pro! 🙂
If only. A sorta veteran, I’d say, only because I survived. Hah!
What days does BMS update now? For some reason, I’m too dumb to see the pattern 😛
Zayne, if you look at the top of the column on the right you’ll see a calendar with the days of our recent updates highlighted. It’s Monday and Friday for the last couple of months, although we just do what we can manage most of the time. We don’t have the time or resources to be reliably consistent at the moment. I am anticipating that by November our update schedule will become much more irregular and infrequent. :-/
Oh, I see. I Never really looked at the calendar. I kind of just assumed it was something I didn’t know about. I totally understand that you can’t update on a regular schedule. I love the strip, but I’m not the kind of fan who gets mad when there’s a little infrequency. Also, my Internet name comes from the main character from Knights of The Old Republic (comic book series) by the name of Zayne Carrick. Autocorrect chose to change Carrick to Carsick so I just went with it. My name is actually Noah–and no, I have never built and ark!
I did wonder whether you had some form of motion sickness when I saw the last name. LOL. Yeah, I wasn’t meaning to sound like I thought you were nagging. I didn’t. I just can’t concisely answer the question of our update schedule right now. I think, as a rule, we will be putting up at least one strip per week, unless an emergency comes up. But the last couple of months we’ve been spurred on by the comic convention high. 🙂
One more question–is there any way I can get some of the earlier Incentive Strips? The first time I noticed those was the one where Biggs aptly renames an Ithorian with a male’s genitiles.
They are available on our Blue Milk Special FaceBook page. Most old voting incentive strips have been worked into the continuity and added to the appropriate point on the website. So, for example, the sequels to the Smoking Jawa strips were originally not part of the website and just made as incentives at Top Web Comics, but after they were replace with newer strips, we added the Smoking Jawa sequels onto this website (back dating them to fit into the right sequence in continuity). I hope that makes sense. I’m having trouble explaining it because I’m on a higher plane of existence called insanity.
Yoda couldn’t have exiled himself on a nice beach planet somewhere? Or Ryloth for the eye candy? Silly snotball.
This lovely site will not allow me to reply again so here is my response: I am glad to see I am not alone among the insane. 🙂 Yes, I do understand that the strips were incorporated in with the rest of them. Most likely, I have already read them in that case, because I believe I am all caught up.
Thanks. At least one of them is not part of the website. That’s the Wedge apology to Biggs. I ended up not really liking the strip and decided just to leave it on FB.
About that–I don’t have a Facebook
Some days I wish I didn’t either.
Ha! Lol
With the new policies in Facebook, which are designed to make you pay for advertising, no new people find my comic page, and even some of the old fans don’t see the updates, so I am thinking of eliminating facebook as a promotional activity.
I wouldn’t delete our FB page because it still promotes our project and when we update with new strips and share interesting news our fans sometimes share that news on their own walls and it brings in more people. Even if you feel your FB page does little, it still gives you a presence which is SOMETHING. And unless that’s harmful in someway, I would definitely keep a FB presence.
Hey Rod, what did you use to build this site? Was it WordPress? I’d like to start a webcomic of my own, and I’d like a reliable (free) way to create the website.
You’re an idiot. It says “powered by WordPress with ComicPress” at the bottom.
I suppose I am an idiot for not seeing that. ;=
It’s not your fault you were car sick!
LOL I thought about saying that. I felt like when I called myself an idiot it could seem like I meant someone else. So I clarified with that last comment. Also what was that eyeball thing you used to use various pictures of for your Gravatar?
@ Zayne Carsick The Eyeball was just my own random graphic, I drew the Eye, then decided it needed further customization.
I got the idea from a Far Side Cartoon “Objects in Mirror are closer than they Appear”.
when i saw that you we’re from NZ, rugby was the first thing that crept into my mind haha. Started playing in college and loved it. just happened to get my tweet answered by Dan carter earlier tonight.
Wow! What did you ask and what did he say?
he does “press conferences” on twitter and i asked him if he has every listened to heavy metal music, which is my other passion besides SW, and he said he did when he was younger haha
IRFU for life. Twas a good game though.
And yes I know it was France v. New Zealand.
