Princess in Denial

We look forward to hearing from you!.
The latest installment in our flashback series following the Adventures of Grand Moff Tarkin has also been added. Where could this all be leading?
We may be a mere gag strip but at least we thought it important enough to acknowledge Princess Leia’s ‘issues’, something the movies conveniently sweep under the carpet without so much as a single mention. The girl grew up on Alderaan. Bail Organa and his family were HER family. So, she lost not only her family, but every other Alderaanian friend in that explosion (with the exception of few people like Commander Vanden Willard). On top of that, she is in a very VERY significant position among the Rebel Alliance in the wake of the loss of her father. They’re struggling to keep together as the Imperial retaliation starts to unleash itself with its full fury. Even if Mon Mothma is active somewhere, along with other rebel leaders like General Dodonna, Leia has a large slice of that leadership / figurehead responsibility. Basically, she’s got issues.
This all makes for a very interesting character. Sure, Carrie Fisher gave Leia spunk and personality, but enough happened to her character to give her real emotional depth. It’s sad it goes ignored in the films and much of the early expanded universe material. Next time you’re drinking your favorite beverage, raise a toast to the Alderaanian Princess.
For the next three weeks Blue Milk Special will be updating five times a week + 3 Tarkin flashback strips. That’s 8 strips a week. That means you can check back every day of the week and get more BMS! If you missed it, here’s the Monday and Tuesday strips.

One thing I’ve always loved about Princess Leia is that she was never the garden-variety “damsel in distress” – she didn’t just stand off to the side and scream, being utterly useless. She handled crises well, she never lost sight of the goal of destroying the Empire, and she was a hell of a shot besides. : )
Hooray for a heroine that didn’t set women back 100 years or more!
Princess Leia is actually turning out to be a lot of fun. For a while I was worried that our iPhone angle would get old fast, so fortunately we are able to throw some other elements into the mix. Some more fun stuff ahead.
A glimpse into Carrie Fisher’s future? hmmmmm
And thus began the running gag of Princess Leia smoking throughout BMS.
Plus she was tortured, by her father, of all people, for information on the location of the Rebel Base. Got to hand it to her for keeping it all together.
