Sneaking Down to Coruscant
Recap: Supposed to be waiting for Boba Fett on Tatooine, Luke and Dash have instead been sidetracked helping the Bothans steal the Death Star II plans. Leia and Chewie meanwhile said farewell to Lando and made an appointment to meet the head of a criminal organization known as Black Sun. Leia believed they would know who was responsible for the attempts to assassinate Luke, as she did not believe Darth Vader was really responsible. Now, Leia is in the clutches of Prince Xizor as he prepares for a hot night of lovin’ with the Rebel princess, and Luke has sensed the danger. Joining Lando, he and Dash head to Coruscant to rescue princess Leia. Sneaking passed orbital security, they meet up with one of Dash’s contacts who offers to lead them through the sewer into Xizor’s palace via a hidden entrance.
I think we can probably all agree that Leonardo is a better contact than some random background character. This one is partially for my friend, Eric. A big TMNT fan.
What we didn’t show you, was that Ron “Vincent” Perlman… oops, I mean Koth Melan, leader of the Bothans, was killed by a bounty hunter attack. Luke managed to flee with the help of Lando, shortly before he detected that the princess’ sexual free will was in peril. Yep, the Bothan dude died in a gun battle and not to the familiar gang of bounty hunters we saw earlier in this story, but to a new generic batch of red-skinned reptilians. If Shadows wasn’t proving a burden on some of our readers, I might have depicted this scene, but I ultimately decided the scene really didn’t offer anything worth prolonging this adaptation. So, here we are rolling on with the plot elements that actually matter. Unfortunately, Ron “Vincent” Perlman’s death didn’t really serve any purpose. A death of little consequence. Or put more plainly: a shitty way to go.
Debuting later today over on new Blue Milk Special Google Plus and Tumblr accounts is a new BMS flashback series called “Return to Yavin”. During our parody of A New Hope, I skipped the development of scenes and characters in the Rebel Base at the Massassi Temple. Characters like Wedge and Porkins were largely skipped over. However, I had some ideas recently that were too good to pass up. Currently, there are about 7 strips, but that may inflate over the course of the next two weeks. The strips WILL NOT appear outside of Google Plus or Tumblr, for now. So if you need extra BMS, and prefer something more familiar than Shadows of the Empire, then here you go. Consider it an incentive to take the time to follow us on these two social media accounts.
Why the push? We have 5,700+ LIKES on Facebook and a fair few on Twitter, but in order to protect Blue Milk Special as a community, we can not put all of our hard work into one single basket. Our ability to communicate and interact more directly with our readers is really important to us as it’s the fuel for making this free fan project. Also, we do listen. If you LOVE a certain character, then make your voice heard and chances are I will give that character a little more attention. The way Facebook keeps changing things has largely made our relatively large following redundant. They restrict who sees yours posts based on how often you interact with a page or friend. So having so many LIKES on FB sounds great, but the percentage who generally see anything I post there is well below than 25%. But that’s Facebook being Facebook. The one true place that you can really be heard is here in our comment thread for the website.
Last Friday, I talked about Voyage Trekkers, the sci-fi parody webseries that I first pointed readers to last year during it’s first season. With Season 2 now approaching it’s glorious end, I wanted to make sure everyone who would love this show if they only knew about it… knows about it! Episode 2 of the current season has a nice Star Wars touch.

Impatient? atch the whole series so far…

My boys will go nuts, when I show them this one. 🙂
This is starting to look like “Living Room Wars”, whith all the seemingly random crossovers. 🙂
My older son laughed like mad when he saw the contact was Leonardo!
I am really enjoying this well-deserved skewering of SotE.
I just wanted to post a quick comment. I love the series and your work in general. I read in your ‘Recap’ section that the “Shadows of the Empire” was a ‘burden’ to some readers and have to disagree vehemently. Thanks to this comic strip, I’ve read both “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye” and “Shadows of the Empire” and enjoyed them both. Yay library and go team Blue Milk!
(Seriously, love the strip and thank you for inspiring me to read the two books, I’ve really enjoyed them)
Yes indeed. Thanks for going through the Shadows of the Empire story, and double thanks for also explaining it along the way. 🙂
Well, the new “Turtle” movie is supposed to have them with an “Alien” background. So now we know where they came from. 😉
JAHAJAJA!!!! only thing left is that Michelangelo uses a light saber instead of a takana… and see luke and lando wild-eyed… is so funny…
Count me amongst those who appreciate your Shadows work.
And what do ya know, my LRW Leia figure is in fact from the Shadows of the Empire line. So I guess I’ve been a Shadows fan for awhile.
And the lightsabering ponies are wearing uniforms! That’s awesome.
Playing catch-up again. Glad you’re adding Back to Yavin to Tumblr as well – I find Google+ really unwieldy
Yep. We wanted to make sure our material was available on as many social network platforms as possible since everyone has their own preferences for surfing the web. I’m not a fan of Facebook or Google+ so far. Tumblr seems quite effective for people sharing our work. We only seem to get one or two retweets per strip on Twitter despite having 1400 followers. But Tumblr has only about 50 so far and we get responses, so that says a lot.
