Snoova the Wookiee
Guri gave both Leia AND Chewbacca a makeover, supplying costumes, new identities and in the wookiee’s case, a new hairstyle! Apparently Guri is a fan of Kid N Play, and why not? This was made in the 90s after all.
So why are they dressing up in disguises again? All of this is to ensure they can move freely on the Imperial home world of Coruscant to meet with the crime prince, Xizor. Leia is convinced that Xizor may have a lead for her about whoever is REALLY trying to assassinate Luke Skywalker. It could be woman’s intuition, or perhaps it’s the Force? Anyway, Chewbacca promised Han Solo that he would protect Leia, which means adopting a trendy 90s haircut to do so. Have they forgotten about Han? Boba Fett is on his way back to Tatooine to deliver the carbon frozen smuggler to Jabba. Luke was supposed to be dealing with that but ended up helping Ron Perlman and the Bothan underground on the otherside of the galaxy. Oh what a plot! Lucky I’m hear to summarize it all for our readers, because most of you have not read / played / listened to Shadows of the Empire. The WORST is just around the corner…
Anyone in the Maryland / DC area interested in seeing a screening of Return of the Jedi at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring? That’s right, Return of the Jedi on the big screen, this Saturday at 8pm. You are all invited to join Leanne and myself, along with members of the Old Line Garrison 501st Legion. Get there early to snap photos with costumed members of the 501st or to chat to the creators of BMS! Then watch Admiral Ackbar lead the Rebel Alliance into a trap. Dun dah, da da da dun. Dun dad, dadada dun… Oh man, time to feel like a kid again!
Now for a little news…
Leanne and Rod to publish new independent comic!
Okay, small favor time from our readers. If you like what Leanne and I do, then maybe you’ll like our other work and take a moment to check it out. Recently, Leanne agreed to join me in resurrecting my independent comic Once Upon a Caper. Once Upon a Caper is a humorous and layered tale that REALLY plays and has fun with the super hero genre from what I feel is a refreshing perspective. Leanne is the cover artist, but future issues will be illustrated by Leanne! I have just released a new version of issue #0 with bonus character bios and pinups, along with revised script and lettering.
Unlike Blue Milk Special, you can actually purchase it in print and directly support us with your pennies and word of mouth. By liking Once Upon a Caper on Facebook and most importantly SHARING it or TWEETING about it, you are helping us to create awareness of the comic and build a readership that we hope will join us late in 2013 when we continue the adventures of not only Sovena, but the cast of capers that make up her universe.
Who would have thought that the Earth’s greatest super hero would be an eleven year old girl in a little red cape? Sovena protects a comic book universe from every imaginable threat, while trying to fit in with her adult peers. On her eleventh birthday, Russian born Sovena Lovstok mysteriously gained godlike super powers. Since that day, she has dedicated these amazing abilities to protecting the innocent and upholding justice. However, those powers came with one small catch…
Issue #0, released on July 4th, 2013, is the final revision of the preview for the upcoming Once Upon a Caper series. The stand alone story stars Little Red Cape.

I know a lot of you guys would like to purchase a collected volume of Blue Milk Special, but you know I want to keep the project on the right side of LucasFilm and can not publish for sale without a license. That means we can’t turn the BMS fan project into anything for profit. But you can still support us by giving us a chance to entertain you with our original characters and stories. It’s tough making indie comics, so all your support and help is MASSIVELY appreciate by both Leanne and myself. Thank you!
Funny thing is I found my Chewbacca action figure from Shadows of the Empire flat top hair cut, vibro axe and blaster even a little cape on the back.
Gonna be a proverbial bitch to keep Chewie in frame now (assuming it wasn’t beforehand) with that ‘do.
LOL! Yep, that’s very true. The two-shot isn’t easy when you’ve got a short-arse like Leia standing next to a tall dude like Chewbacca. Reminds me of Tom Baker, the 4th Doctor, complaining about two-shots with his character’s robot dog K9. He, and his companions would always have to drop to one knee for a close up with K9 when sharing dialogue. Sorry… I’m a classic WHO fan, so I have a Doctor Who story for every situation.
It’s more funny and more of a joke to not even try or to purposefully not do it right.
Great to see Once Upon A Superhero back as Once Upon A Caper. Do those of us who purchased the original #0 get a break on the new one?
Well, Paul, I need all the support I can get as an indie creator so I am counting on previous readers being willing to either spend $4.99 for the new polished copy with the revised script, lettering and character bios to help raise funds for the future ongoing series late 2013. But if you don’t want another copy you could pay $1.99 for the PDF or CBZ digital version of the issue. Whatever you decide to do, I understand. And appreciate you purchasing the old version! Thanks for giving me a shot! 🙂
I always find it interesting how much artwork of “Jedi Luke” has him using a blue saber. I even remember one of the books in the thrawn trilogy or something having ROTJ-Luke, black pants/shirt, blue-gray tunic, brown hooded-cape and all, on the print, but with a blue saber. For some reason it just feels interesting. Like why are various hues of blue and green the most common lightsaber colours?
Chewie. X D
I think this is a great new look for Chewbacca. Love the bell bottoms! 😀
Man, I would love to go see Jedi on Saturday in Silver Spring. I live in Columbia just 30 minutes away. Unfortunately I will be leaving the country that afternoon. I never have a clue what is being shown there unless I am driving by.
I am definitely looking forward to more Once Upon a caper Comics! 🙂
Chewie’s looking fabulous. He could hide a couple thermal detonators up there!
Have picked up Once Upon A Caper as a PDF – I really enjoy BMS and am keen to support you guys. Can you please include an electronic version going forward for future comics (including if there is a new updated version of Issue #0)? US shipping rates to international destinations are quite high – $4 for the comic, $25 for shipping. Ouch.
Yes .. that´s very unfortunately for us.. the foreign audience…
Bruce, they didn’t have a cheaper shipping option? Where do you live, Mars? I am utterly surprised by the cost. Please give me more info so I can talk to IndyPlanet about this.
Would you check for me a shipping to Medellin, Colombia?
I’m working on a new option for international customers for my Indie comic Once Upon a Caper, but for now I recommend the $1.99 digital version which you can read on your phone, tablet or computer.
I`ll go for it…
Did anyone else think of Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy (one of Marvel’s upcoming movies) when they saw the BMS depiction of Chewie/Snoova?
