Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – Part 10
New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!
You can now join the elite few BMSers who have acquired our Blue Milk Special Carton at our shows by downloading the PDF below, printing it out on heavy card stock… or paper if you really D.G.A.S… and folding and gluing / taping as required. Thanks once again to BMSer T. Gatto for the idea and taking the time to build the template from which our latest version evolved.
For all those that doubted Carrie Fisher’s addictions were more than just cigarettes and alcohol, she recently admitted to doing more than dope… cocaine no less! Princess Leia was hardcore! And of course, it is from Carrie Fisher that our BMS Princess Leia is derived. Here’s a link to the article, submitted by reader, Mark. Carrie is performing her stand up act “Wishful Drinking” in Australia right now. Best of luck, Carrie! We love you!
Notice the new BMS character poll on the right? You can now help us gauge who is the most popular character by casting your vote. We notice that we left Luke off the list, and that Wedge got a write-in. I wonder if Declan Jabba’s single vote (at the time of typing) was out of sympathy? I also realized I completely forgot to add Tarkin!!!
Sorry for the eclectic muddle of a post you’re all reading, but I’m a little under the weather with a chronic sinus infection and it’s inhibiting basic cognitive functions. I have gone ahead and upped our latest silly pinups below. We hope you enjoy. ;=
Awesome as always! Love the new pin ups, “Also the best Booty hunter in the galaxy” Perfect!
You got the sinus infection thing, too? Is it contagious? We passed it over the internet, probably. Must be a computer virus. Excuse me, I want to wash my hands now….
I love the Princes and the Jawa one.
Ah the old sinus infection… sucks to have I know.
Late saying, but good to see NYCC went well. I totally wanted to make it this year but for the same reasons, no go. Next year, I’m certain to be there and I trust y’all will be there as well. I’d totally dig having a booth next to yours. 😀
Though were the sentiment reciprocated, I dunno.
OK, anyway, it would seem I was WAY off with the cameo in the story. Gotta give credit for trying though, right? Your choice, as well as her attitude is well played, for certain.
As for the pinups, funny indeed. The greatest Booty Hunter in the world would explain his inability to actually accomplish any Bounty Hunting.
With the Splinter of the Mind’s Eye pinup however, I think Luke’s Lightsaber was left out. Assuming that indeed is a lightsaber Luke is reaching for in the original cover art; it’s hard to say.
This has nothing to do with Star Wars, or BMS, but they have their own Wiki, so damn it BMS will too!!!!!!

I laughed so hard I had to post it.
What will they think of next?

They are actually popular overseas.
Great Pin-Ups! Funny Star Wars comic! What more do we need?
I love the “booty hunter”, the “they fight crime”, and the “flavor of the dark side” one.
I love that BMS version of Ralph McQuarrie’s fantastic cover artwork! I’ll have to print that out and find somewhere to put it. lol
I also feel the need to point out that I genuinely enjoyed SOTME from start to finish. So much so that I went out and bought Alan Dean Foster’s other original Star Wars novel – The Approaching Storm. It’s been sitting on my shelf for over two years now. I’ve never made it more than three quarters of the way through though. It definetly has it’s moments of almost redemption, but boy does it drag on, and on, and…
“look Sir, xxx!”, has ALWAYS been one of my fav SW-puns *^.^*
Sorry you’re not well Rod.
As well as antibiotics, try:
Glass of warm water + half teaspoon of salt + half teaspoon of baking soda.
Suck it up the nose a few times blowing out the gunk. Good stuff! Apparently better than bought saline nasal sprays.
Hope everyone enjoys their dinner now.
Unfortunately my condition is a little more complicated than that. For one thing, since having surgery my nose now drains down my throat not out my nose. I’ve used nasal rinses to try and clear the sinuses but half the time its so bad that the water just clogs up and doesn’t come out the other side. But right now its not the stuffiness or anything like that which is doing me in, it’s the deep seated infection and spin off ear infection. It’s overpowering. I took yesterday off work, but here I am today at work trying to keep my unsympathetic colleagues happy that I’m suffering in their company. Moan moan moan… yes, I’m British. Anyway, thanks for the tip, I will keep that one in mind. Baking soda kills ants, eats odors, can be good for body aches when added to hot bath water, and now can apparently do the job of saline nasal sprays. It truly is the magic fairy dust of the real world. Just sprinkle it over your head and think happy thoughts and you’ll be able to fly too!
It’s also good for removing wet red wine from fabrics/carpets! Apparently you can even BAKE with it. But I don’t believe a word of it. Ridiculous.
I get upper respiratory infections that spread to my ears too. I asked the doc early this year: “Why do people say ‘it’s due to the change in the weather’ – even when it’s a change for the BETTER?” She said: when the weather dries up after winter there’s more dust about – never mind pollen – but dust. It irritates the airways and can lead to infection. It was a new one on me.
I’d recommend a pint (or more) of Guiness (although we drink it cold here).
I don’t know what it does for colds and allergies, but after enough of them who cares?
I’m not much of a drinker but I’m having one of those weeks at work where I wish I was (Maybe the 1/4 Irish in me is just asserting it’s dominance).
Hope you feel better.
I never knew you were British…
Sniffing things like spicy hot mustard can help clear the sinuses. Feel better soon!
Well, I have a British passport, a New Zealand passport and a United States permanent residency… so I’m whichever I feel like on the day I suppose. But my British roots and culture have always been dominant.
This is sort of an odd question but did you ever see a platypus in New Zealand ?
The Platypus is native to Australia, not New Zealand, but I did have a platypus soft toy… which I still have on a shelf. It came to the USA with me and sits next to Leanne’s Hippo. 🙂
Great pinups, great comc and sorry you are sick, hope you feel better, and may the Force be with you. Always.
H aha. I mis-read that as: And sorry, YOU… are sick.
I’ve got to say that I’m really enjoying your take on Jabba. He seems a lot more approachable and deep that the green guy was. You can actually sympathize with him.
I just realized the Bea is the surprise character. Yeah, I never would have guessed that one.
Hah hah! Actually, someone did guess it by process of elimination… still, we’re glad it surprised some of you.
If you had any idea as to how much bouncing up and down I did when I found those pin-ups… Well I don’t know what you’d do. Heck, barely care, I HAVE NEW IPHONE WALLPAPERS!
Ecstaticness aside, I read on Leanne’s twitter earlier today (or was it yesterday? Sorry, life got really crazy yesterday) that you were in for a surgery, so I hope you’re ok and all went well!
“For all those that doubted Carrie Fisher’s addictions were more than just cigarettes and alcohol, she recently admitted to doing more than dope… cocaine no less”
From a physical standpoint, mj has far more far-reaching effects on the addict than cocaine. It’s harder on the body and brain than most other drugs. Cocaine is a violent stimulant but it normally does not kill or lower IQ permanently. It doesn’t stay in the body for 14 to 30 days. Nor has it caused lung cancer, ED, reduction in immune response, chronic pulmonary disease, etc. The birth defects seen with mj are typically small cranium, seizures, and a host of neurological problems. It hadn’t yet been given a fancy name in the 1990s and early 2000s, but I saw what happened with the kids born to women of my generation.
Far more have been killed in gangs and in Mexico to meet the demand for mj than any other drug. (Canada’s legalization was a boon to Mexican drug interests.) And yet cocaine is considered worse than dope. We have some strange ways of determining what is bad or worse than something else.
I should probably have specified I was talking about the short term dramatic effects of cocaine. But the truth is, I have never taken either and don’t intend to. My knowledge is therefore limited. I’ve never smoked, and I HATE coffee so much that even the smell of it makes me gag. So, just because I may reference a drug or addiction, doesn’t mean I am endorsing it. Also, BMS is hardly the place for these discussions. It’s parody and we state in the website banner, for mature readers.
