Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – Part 12
New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!
BLUE MILK SPECIAL ENTERS WOOKIEEPEDIA!
We have some great news! BMSers T. Gatto, Nate and Paul De Jawa Vu put their heads together and worked up a Wookieepedia entry for Blue Milk Special. Wookieepedia has some strict rules to follow, including objectivity that meant BMS might not cut the mustard. However, the article was happily approved on Friday and is now a documented part of the Star Wars fan universe. Nate came up with the name BMSer and I guess that would make our little triumvirate of BMSers the BMSketeers. T. Gatto is responsible for the milk carton idea and template and has more in the works that we will publish soon. Paul is working on a BMS spin-off project with Nate and T. It’s great to see the enthusiasm out there for this daft webcomic that Leanne and I began some 18 months or so ago. So, directly from myself and Leanne, thanks guys!!!
Sometimes we cheat and so we skipped the street brawl between Luke, Leia and the miners (who you got a glimpse of in panel 4 of the last strip). We worked this omission into BMS continuity. Just a couple more strips and a certain latte drinking villain will be back! ;=
During New York Comic Con Leanne was interviewed by Screamer’s Retro Flashbacks and pimped out Blue Milk Special. View the video below. I was busy being jostled for cigarettes by a smoking jawa. As I don’t smoke, this led to a bit of scene that ended with the two of us being thrown out. Fortunately, Leanne kept calm throughout and gave a very good interview.
I just read the Wookiepedia article! Great Biggs reference in there too! Who wants to organize a Biggs Darklighter flash mob to attend Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows?
I dont think there are that many BMS fans in a single area.
Almost 1000 likes on facebook !
Leanne you ROCK!
I would like to formally request that BMS do a version of SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE. ^_^
So far this is possibly my favorite Web Comic of the piles I read, and I’m in the middle literally of the SotE novel, so would like to see the BMS Dash Rendar in all his Douchey Solo-Clone glory!!
Thanks in advance! ^_^
Only if we can “rip the piss” (metaphorically) out of Xisor. I hate that guy.
In that case, I can’t WAIT to read those!! ROFL!!
Do it! Be brutal!! ROFL!!
I second the shadows parody.
Add my name to the petition asking for Shadows of the Empire.
I agree. Shadows of the Empire is a must.
We need a SotE parody if you guys are able to pull it off. Heck, it’s Guri’s first appearance. Possibly a love pentagon between Luke, Rendar, Xizor, Leia, Guri?
I second the SotE motion! Rip away!
Are those Sand Troopers guarding Luke and Leia (they have the shoulder pads)?
– If so were they looking for work, after Episode IV, and took whatever they could get, or what?
In all seriousness, isn’t that what the pad means, or does it have some other significance (not just for BMS)?
BTW now that Halla (or whatever her name is now) is no longer working at the Tattooine Cantine did she clean up Greedo before she left, or is he still rotting in the corner? I doubt his smell could go unnoticed, even in there.
Maybe the sand people got to Greedo’s corpse first?
Yeah, those shoulder pads seem to indicate expeditionary forces or something. In the SOTME comic adaptation they went with the shoulder pads (I think!). However, in ROTJ the Endor Stormtroopers lack the pads. Perhaps members of the 501st can clarify the significance?
But of course they don’t actually protect you 😉 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym-xHehd4NI
Those shoulder pads do have something to do with rank. I think they were originally worn by high ranking clone troopers, like ARC troopers.
Exactly – a Rank Signifier. It’s actually half of a motorcycling chest protector stuck on the shoulder instead! http://tinyurl.com/36ytgx2
“yeah, but the artists couldn’t be bothered illustrating that scene, so I’m pleading innocent!”
Crap! he got us there…. >_<
Jesus! Congratulations to both of you. Fame awaits!
Dude… I know you’re just kidding, but this isn’t about fame. This is about laughs. 🙂
I know! I know!
Glad Leanne got to pimp her work. Folks have no idea what is about to hit them. Turn your heads and begin to cough for its about to be on like donkey kong! lol
Thanks so much Rod and Leanne! Has it really only been a year and a half since BMS began?!?!? I look forward to hopefully meeting you at a show one day.
I’m working on getting to Chicago this year, but first I have to wait for a positive BMS confirmation.
I’d like to catch Star Wars age 9 at a show also, ever going to happen in the mid West U.S. John?
Someone should start a tracking page for Web Comics, and Independant artists, to record what shows to expect your favorites at. I wish I had the technical skills to do this, but I can barely Sphelz Web Comiks.
Sorry T. Leanne and I decided over the weekend that we will not do Chicago. Too expensive. It would cost us the same as NYCC but with the addition of greater travel costs as well. NYCC cost us about $1500 dollars factoring in the hotel, food, taxis, parking, printing, and artist alley table costs. Yep… $1500. We only made about one third of that at the show. While it was a great deal of fun, we simply can’t afford to do this sort of thing when at the same time we are working on launching our own childrens book series and comics. However, the kindly folks of the Midwest 501st garrison have offered to help disseminate our promo cards at C2E2 which does just as much to spread the word as our physically being there. Therefore our plans for shows next year are very much up in the air. If we do head out that way, it may not be for a traditional comics convention.
Childrens’ Book Fair in bologna? I might get to meet you both at last!
Hi T. Sorry, only just spotted your kind words!
I would LOVE to go over to show; with my one-man-garage-band of a comic. But – that’s all it is. Until it becomes a publishing empire – as it inevitably will – I’ll have to keep the expenses down!
Pix or it didn’t happen!
