New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!

Today’s strip has more in common with the Dark Horse comics adaptation of Splinter of the Mind’s Eye than the book itself. In the book, Luke and Leia get right into paddling the moment they hop on the lilypad, but as you can see the comic adaptation went above and beyond in its efforts to reflect the angsty burgeoning romance between the two. This awkward early stages romance was certainly in the book, just not in this particular scene.

Come Jizz with Figrin D'ann and the Modal Nodes in a new series of voting incentive strips!

Just a reminder (since we didn’t upload this until after Wednesday’s blog debuted) that we have a brand new voting incentive strip over at TopWebComics.com For the next few months we will be telling the story of Figrin D’ann and the Modal Nodes as they struggle between gigs and deal with their devil-horned manager moonlighting as a graphic designer.

Unfortunately we were unable to really do much with the Cantina scene during our parody of the 1977 Star Wars movie and the Cantina band were little more than a background… although they did manage a Jizz rendition of Smooth Criminal. ;= Finally I seem to have found a place to tell their story which sits a little outside of our current Splinter of the Mind’s Eye continuity. All you have to do to see the series is keep voting for BMS. Part 2 in the Cantina Band story arc will appear on December 1st. In the meantime, check out part 1 and our musical crossover.

For the record “jizz” is the unfortunately named style of music that the Cantina Band plays. An obvious pun on Jazz which has since adopted other meanings. So, I’m not technically being crude. ;=

I want to take a minute to pimp out a now defunct Star Wars fan webcomic which some of you may or may not be aware of. It is called Turning to the Dork Side and it’s the creation of Neil Baker. Turning to the Dork Side appeared on the Official Star Wars Blog, and concurrently on the UK website Lightsabre. The comic ran for 50 strips and was set in Jabba’s Palace starring, most notably Salacious Crumb. Dork Side uses a traditional 4 panel strip format and seems to share my sense of humor. So much so that I felt like I’d just found Blue Milk Special’s sister strip! Don’t worry, I have no plan to make out with it. ;=

Star Wars webcomic starring Salacious Crumb and others

Unlike BMS which often delves into some rather risque situations, Dork Side consistently delivers the laughs in a much more wholesome way. It’s easy to resort to shock gags when short of ideas and we do it from time to time, but perhaps that is the strength of Neil’s work. At 50 strips it feels tighter and the humor doesn’t take the easy way out. Check out one of my favorites and take a look at the rest if you like it as much as I do.
