Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – Part 8
Re: today’s strip: This may look like a typical example of BMS using extreme violence to score a quick laugh but it’s actually in the book. Under pressure to convince the cantina denizens that he and Leia are not out of place, he slaps her across the face. Okay… so we took it to another level, but it’s still taken out of the book! This is not the last time Leia gets abused in this story. I wonder what Alan Dean Foster’s problem was?
New York Comic Con – October 8 – 10, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Center.
We are at New York Comic Con right now after a long train ride late last night. The show opens to the public Friday at 1 PM until 7 PM, and runs from 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday. If you’re in the area then you have two and a half days to meet us, get a sketch of your favorite character, make a donation and get a print of your favorite strip and/or new BMS Milk Cartons, and pick up FREE promo cards! It’s on!
We can be found at Leanne Hannah’s table in artist alley at K-14 (row K, table 14). Leanne has a signing on Sunday 1 PM at booth 2357 (sounds like a Death Star detention cell) for her Casper and the Spectrals comic with Ardden Entertainment. If you want a sketch from Leanne then you will need to make the request at our table early in the day as we only take on a certain number each day. If you don’t get in early you may be disappointed. Click on the image of General Dodonna on the right to view or download the map with his instructions.
FREE Blue Milk Special Full Color Promo Cards will be available at the show. Please stop by and take a couple.
Leanne will be sketching. Request your favorite character. Prices will be listed at the table on the day.
New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!
That guy in the background looks like he is a little too happy about her getting slapped 😉
He is way too amused by the casual violence; it must be a rough place indeed. :p
Semi-unrelated: I found a booth selling the Holiday Special on dvd at the con today. Totally didn’t buy it, but it made me smile.
Wow Lucas would be pissed if you told him that.
awww… you should have… if it was in your price range lol!
It’s a collector’s item 😀
It was probably bootleg so…
It definitely is bootleg. However, it’s more or less abandoned by Lucasarts, so the likelihood of being prosecuted is pretty slim. I only trust it’s a good quality bootleg.
Lucasarts is the video game company…
I don’t know…… I’m going to blame the anger on the hair buns…..
Ohhhhh, Luke’s gonna pay for that big time. Dun-dun-dunnnnnnn!!
That just proves he scored the night before (yuck).
There is no way he would have bitch slapped her (and ruined his chances) before getting some. 😉
Just a few more thoughts;
– At least he couldn’t have broken her nose because, in the BMS universe, she doesn’t have one.
– I also noticed that Luke deftly struck her with both hands equally efficiently, Mara Jade has so much to look foreword to if you ever get that far.
Sorry for being so insensitive, but it’s just a comic strip.
Luke might not fit in with the rough crowd, but Leia ought to have no problems in that regard, what with all those bad habits she’s picked up. 😉
This is how the book should have read! lol
I blame the schools for the violence…
also, what happened to leia’s Cigarette?
lol 😀
did she swallow it? That’d be funny lol 😀
Those miner suits aren’t really geared for the zombie apocalypse are they? I mean, that flap across their back; one decaying hand outstretched, and it’s all over. At least Leia wears her long hair properly for such an occasion.
Hmm. Apologies for the VERY unrelated comment to Star Wars.
Happy 42 day everybody !
What’s 42? I’m 42.
Its a Douglas Adams “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” reference.
It’s not Star Wars, or Blue Milk, but it is sacred SciFi cannon, so it will do nicely.
Sorry for the Inconvenience.
Fantastic. I loved that radio series. Long time ago now.
Splinter of the Mind’s Eye is such a weird book!
I’m sorry what’s the question?
That is, if the answer is 42.
and it always is…
Yup, I remember that in the book. They did a lot of fighting. I recall there was a fight that left Leia’s shirt ripped and she was a bit exposed. But it was just a book so you don’t get to see the goods.
