Splinter of the Mind’s Eye – The End…
New to Blue Milk Special? Start reading from the beginning!
There’s a new Cantina Band voting incentive strip. Thanks for continuing to support us daily on TopWebComics.com
Well, here we are, at the very end of Splinter of the Mind’s Eye. It’s almost Christmas Eve and we’re about to take a break from BMS for the next couple of months. However, we will try to put up at least one strip or single panel gag each week over the next couple of months as we build up to The Empire Strikes Back.
Yeah, Luke loves Leia. A bit of alliteration there. It sounds good, but after The Empire Strikes Back that made for a pretty tragic love triangle for Luke. After Return of the Jedi that love somehow evolved from the lusty sort into the platonic sort. Oh yeah, of course, Luke just mistook those feelings for familial love. Right…
In the original draft for The Empire Strikes Back the fact that Leia and Han Solo had become an item was exploited by Vader in his efforts to convince Luke to turn to the Dark Side. It would also have involved Castle Vader, where Vader would hang out and chill between religious genocides. Although what we got was almost certainly better than this now forgotten draft I would still love to see it as an alternate take. If I get the time on Christmas Day I will have to read that excellent book The Making of the Empire Strikes Back which has all this delicious information within its hundreds of giant-sized pages.
We might have a pinup update on Christmas Day, and we will have a TESB teaser next week. Thanks for reading!
So Rod do they have Christmas in New Zealand and the UK ? 😉
HAhaha. I’m so glad I know that you’re joking. 🙂
I think Leia’s expressions in the final two panels sum up your audience’s feelings on the way SOTME panned out – especially the crazy ending. Well done both of you, an awesome strip, now have a great rest and a jolly holiday.
I couldn’t agree more with everything you just said,
Merry Christmas you awesome people at BMS
Wait, do they actually die in the book? I’m so glad the first movie did well and we got ESB instead of this.
Enjoy the holidays and your break from BMS. 🙂
No… what happens next is Halla shows up with the Kaiburr crystal, says that she was just a fake Force user and the crystal is useless to her, gives it to the dying Luke, who is healed by its FORCINESS and then uses it to heal Leia. They then all laugh about shit and leave. LOL. Honestly, I had a strip to cover that scene, but I just couldn’t give enough of a damn to actually parody such a mediocre ending. :-/
Ah, Forciness. Is there anything you can’t do?
apparently not cause someone to care enough to write a full ending. 😉
Oh, fer fark’s sake. *facepalm* *headdesk*
Even then, you’ve got to fill that plothole SOMEHOW. But, yeah. That is a rather weaksauce ending.
Haha! Gross…
hahahahahah… what is luke actually doing from Behind…? 😉
hahaha
To paraphrase Luke’s own advice to Wedge, “Get out of there, Luke! You can’t do anymore good back there!”
Funny, that’s what My girlfriend said…
Reminds me of like those 2 Neo-Nazis in the Blues Brothers.
Good thing the conveniently placed Kaiburr Crystal had just enough Forciness left.
Happy Holidays all!
Merry Christmas and a Happy Life Day!
Merry/Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy Life Day.
On a unrelated note , I just finished “Before the Storm” and they mentioned Lumpy, I had no idea he was cannon.
…side boob…
Leia should have had her cigatrette butt still in hand after she passed out on the floor. She went to a lot of trouble to find it after all! 😀
Can’t believed I missed this one. Yeah that’s good; putting his head down right where things could have evolved into something more amazing. Innuendo aside, she looks relieved it didn’t come to that. Or perhaps horrified that it could have? We may never know.
D8< necro-incest! (we know she's alive; Luke doesn't)
I’m late to the party but I loved Splinter of the Mind’s Eye! The book, I mean. Well, I loved your version of it, too. Such awesomeness. I may need to try to find my copy again.
Most of the book was OK. Can’t say I liked Foster’s bashing around of leia, though. One thing that I never could figure out, though, is when Luke got hurt. One moment he’s fine, then without explanation, he dies. Umm, continuity?
