That’s it… the rebels are there!
This harks back to one of our first strips from The Empire Strikes Back parody, which you can view here. In the movie, Vader gives Ozzel a hard time for questioning the Probe Droid’s accuracy. As you know, BMS Vader tends to differ with his film counterpart in how he handles his officers. When we were working on the scripts for the TESB parody, many of the original ideas revolved around the typical play on Vader’s habit of meting out death as a punishment for failure. Star Wars has been so thoroughly parodied by so many people that I felt we would go in a different direction to try and keep things fresh. It also fits a lot better with BMS Vader’s childlike nonchalance. So, don’t expect to see Vader causing much death and destruction intentionally in the next month or so. 😉
Reader’s might like to check out Blue Milk Carton, run over on Facebook by BMSketeer, T. Gatto. He’s made a great Indiana Jones milk carton. By the way, Leanne consented to do a special commission for T. We know he’s a fan of Biggs Darklighter. I think Leanne’s concept is fresh but still sums up our interpretation of Biggs very clearly. Expect to get this in the mail within a week, T! 🙂 The winners of the Design Your Own Blue Milk Carton contest can expect to receive their pinups in the mail in the next week also! 😀
Leanne Hannah brings you Spider-Biggs Darklighter! Check out more of Leanne’s work at her DeviantArt.
Somehow accidental death dealing befits this Vader best, methinks.
I’m going to try and make some of the Cartons this week – i think I have all the templates saved on a memory stick… I like the Biggs foul-up 😀
Haha! I didn’t see that as Spider-Biggs at all! Saw it as Biggs getting tangled up in his swashbuckling rope!
Depends on how familiar you are with Marvel comics. 😉
Me too! And I loved Spider Man.
It’s a stock pose of MODERN Spidey. Not your pre-Todd McFarlane Spidey era. 😉
Fabulous! It seemed a long time to wait this week – strange.
LOVE Leanne’s ‘Spider-Biggs’ – awesome stuff.
Classic! Made me spit out my morning dose of Mountain Dew! 🙂
I had apple juice through my nose 😀
Wow!
I love the Biggs Sketch!!! I have a frame ready for it! Thanks Leanne, this beats out My Sergio Aragones sketch, and my original Stradivarius Violin (OK I made the last bit up)! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I’m surprised to see my Indy carton so soon, I was just sitting down to make the next batch today. I’ll get them out to you well before next Monday. 🙂
BTW Hammer Head carton is missing from the Fringe section.
Yes, I think we can look forward to seeing Vader causing much death and destruction unintentionally in the next month or so!
Excellent work!
Go Spiderman! Uh, I mean Biggs. Well at least Spidey is smart enough not to wear a cape, even if it isn’t full length.
Anyway, I can see the validity in Vader’s reaction: Who would live on a desolate ice planet, likely out in the middle of nowhere of the galaxy: The Rebels, of course. Smugglers? Pah! They have higher standards for themselves.
Clearly, Spidey is a client of Edna Mode. “NO CAPES!!”
On the same subject of The Rebels, doesn’t that sound like a south western country band?
Maybe we should sneak a Confederate flag into the background of Echo Base?
That’s great! I love that idea! Would be totally arbitrary and will cause people to figuratively scratch their heads, but MAN! That’s great!
Maybe have Leonard Skinner’s “Sweet Home Alabama” lyrics on a radio in the background of one of the frames
And indeed, there’s at least two country western bands by that name. Looked them up on Wiki.
Indifferent, childlike Vader has been fun so far. I’m sure he’ll manage to make a mess of the Hoth invasion what with hovering Storm Troopers and spilling coffee everywhere. 🙂
He’ll need special ‘star-class’ vacuum mug for his coffee on Hoth. None of that regulation junk.
The rebels were here – Darth Vader when he sees abandon snowball fight area. <– It would make a great comic!
Spider Biggs, Spider Biggs, does whatever Spider Biggs does…
Vader better get used to iced coffee!! ;P
Way ahead of you on that one! ;=
just a heads up! the webcomic “Looking For Group” today features a Star Wars parody about the less than immortal Porkins!
and the perfect opportunity to combine SW and calvin and hobbes snow scenes passes us by…a Darth head looking over the hill ‘killroy’ style upon a scene of rebel snowmen in a snowball fight…
yours is funny, this would have been epic!
Sorry to let you down! 😛
Damn you to Hell Rod.
“Lord Vader said ‘The Rebels are there’ – inside that snowman. Maximum firepower!”
Spider Biggs is great! Hey i recently rediscovered my old box of Topps UK Star Wars cards and I’ve got some, ahem, Gran Moff Tarkin duplicates that I would love to see go to a good Peter Cushing loving home. My gift to you for your wonderful BMS strip 🙂
Yay! bluemilkspecial@gmail.com
cool I will email you later today when I’m not at work.
Check out what I did to mine JAM – and weep: http://starwarsage9.com/index.php/part-i/droids-escape-17
AHHHHHHH! John thats awful but don’t sweat it, the cards aren’t really worth much. A complete set of over 200 cards in mint condition is worth a little more than $100 US. and it will cost about $100 to get them verified and assigned serial numbers, so why not give some mint condition Cushing cards to Ron and Leanne. Sigh, I do feel your pain though, the tape hurts the most.
“There are so many… Uncharted settlements; it could be smugglers!”
“Smugglers don’t make their snowmen smile.”
