The Asteroid Field
Listen to this jazz cocktail version of The Asteroid Field on YouTube. Thanks to Neil Baker for alerting me to this little piece of awesomeness.
Well, by Friday morning, Leanne will be on her way to Los Angeles for the Power-Con / ThunderCon this weekend (September 24-25). The show is the first ever convention dedicated to the celebration of Master of the Universe and ThunderCats. Even if you’re not a fan of either show, Leanne’s name being on the guest list should be a draw for any BMS reader! ๐
Leanne’s new blog post (another!) this time showing the process used to create the piece for the art auction to benefit Children Affected by AIDS Foundation. You can bid online (you don’t have to be at the show to bid).
Back in 2003-2004, while she was working with MV Creations, Leanne Hannah was the editor and one of the artists for the best selling Master of the Universe comic relaunch. Leanne will be a guest at the show and have a table where she will be providing sketches and selling her brand new Masters of the Universe print. See below…
2011 Power-Con will take place at the Four Points By Sheraton Los Angeles, 9750 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in California Room A-D (that’s the LAX Airport!). You can also read Leanne’s latest blog post about our recent convention appearances at Baltimore and Richmond along with a gallery of her sketches from the shows.
I, unfortunately, will not be there. But this is a rare opportunity for West Coast BMS fans to meet the better half of the BMS duo — and she’s pretty! She may be taking a few of the exclusive BMS prints with her just in case any of you guys show up. Who knows what Leanne will do and bring. She is a world unto herself.
Once Power-Con is over we will officially start work on an original manga webcomic project I’ve been brewing for many months now. As for BMS? Monday will be the debut of Dagobah, but don’t expect the banner to change until the following week when Leanne get’s a chance to work on it. In the meantime please continue to spread the word about BMS and vote as often as you can. May the Forciness be with you!
Anything done for the sake of John Williams’ orchestral score is totally acceptable. And I mean anything. ๐
For the recessional music my wife and I had the celebration music from New Hope when I got married last year
I heartily approve of this strip today – this one piece of music is my single most favorite of the entire saga. Thank you for acknowledging it ๐
Do you have the lounge version? Do you want me to send it to you?
LOL. Yes! Send me the lounge version.
Yeah, this is my favorite piece, although the climactic cloud city score is very close.
I love that piece! There’s a lounge version? As in Martin Denny or Julie London lounge version?
How did I not know this?
What about the Jawa music? Surely that ranks high. Its one of mine.
Well, I was talking about The Empire Strikes Back score, but I do love the childlike magic of the Jawa music and much of the Tatooine portion of Star Wars. The Dune Sea is also great. Love the Trench battle music too. When you said Jawa music, the first thing that popped into my head was sleazy disco music and Smoking Jawa lying next to Aunt Beru. :-/
No, no – that music would be more like Jawa-chicka-Jawa-Jaw.
OMG. Just listened to them. Thanks for sending them! Awesome.
Sir! The possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1!
Never tell me the odds!
(seriously, how did it take over two years for someone to say this?)
Yep – great musical section!
I registered online to proxy bid on the He Man drawing.
With the upcoming trip to Baltimore I can’t bid as much as I would like, but I am still interested in what It will go for.
I looked at the other drawings for sale, and it was definitely top notch even with the stiff competition.
I Love that piece of music too. There’s nothing better than walking through London and “The Asteroid Field” starts to play at random on my iPhone. That or “The Imperial March”
Dude! The drawings of the tie fighters are awesome! Not even the movie could make them look so cool! Keep up the good work!
I actually haven’t succeeded in making a donation to BMS yet. I keep being give credit card details even though I’m logged into my PayPal account. Anyone else having probs? Or am I just an idiot don’t answer that?
Not sure what’s wrong, but don’t worry John. From one struggling artist to another, we know how precious every dollar is and we’d be happier your savings went toward StarWars Age 9. ๐
You’re right of course ๐
I placed the open bid for the He Man drawing at Power-Con, time to wait and see what happens. ๐
You are awesome, T. Hopefully there will be more bids, but we would be happy to see it go to you should you win it. The auction is for a very very good cause.
To rich for my blood I guess, but $100.00 means $50.00 for charity. ๐
The $ was coming out of my VA Comicon funds, so more $ for me to spend later. I’m scheduled off work, so there is no getting rid of me now. ๐
The Asteroid Field *is* one of the best tracks in all of John William’s scores.
