The Deleted Snowtrooper Scene
You might be reading this and thinking we’re just going off on one of our own tangents, but this is in fact based upon a deleted scene where something very similar occurred in The Empire Strikes Back before ending up on the cutting room floor. We’re pretty sure we added the donuts. See the original scene here at Star Wars Cutscenes.
Are you going to come down and meet us at Virginia Comic Con this Saturday? Bask in our copious Forciness. See the details about the show below. Last time to meet us this year, folks!
Wow! That didn’t take long! We have another Comic Con this weekend, this time in Richmond, Virginia. If you couldn’t make it to Baltimore, here is another opportunity to meet us and pick up some goodies. This is our second and last of only two appearances this year as we save our pennies for next year’s hopes and dreams.
Both Leanne and myself (Rod) will be attending Virginia Comic Con, a single day show celebrating comics. It will be held in Crowne Plaza West in Richmond, VA on SATURDAY September 3, 10a-4p.
Admission is $6 bucks.
Free for kids under 5 and persons with a valid military ID.
Look for exclusive limited edition BMS print at our table along with free promo cards, see below.
It does seem quite out of character for 3P0. More devious than his normally naive character would suggest. I’m liking the Monty Python reference in the last panel.
I like the scene because it actually gave C3PO a positive role in the film for a change. Without the scene, C3PO does nothing at all but whine. Any moments of aiding the party are exclusively R2D2’s. It’s a shame they couldn’t pull off the Wampa costumes. Or found another way to incoporate the wampas (even if left mostly unseen) without distracting from the main plot.
Vader/Anekin, never should have built that droid.
Good thing, like him, I’m mostly blocking the events of the prequels.
I love the last panel’s art so much.
I was kind of thinking having Vader running away and yelling “Nooooooo!” would be kind of funny! 🙂
It might have worked, but I’m not even going to acknowledge the NOOOOOOOOOO thing. Besides, Family Guy or Robot Chicken have hit those points pretty well already… I think.
Eh, “run away” is funny by itself. “Nooooo” is only funny as a reference. Too much of that can be a bad thing. I like it as is. 🙂
are you referring to the adding of ‘NOOOOO… NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” to the throne room scene of ROTJ on the Blu-Rays? I just read about that and saw the clip online. I’m very disappointed with Lucas for changing that.
We’ll have to address Old Lucas’ penchant for fiddling in the future via a BMS strip. I know we’ve touched on it, but I think something more direct is in order.
“Run Away!” Perfect! Now if there was only a scene with Storm Troopers weighing a woman and a duck trying to figure out if she is a Jedi… hummm
Nah, that’d be blatant. 😉
Nice, loved the Monty Python reference, subtle. I guess Luke is on the way to Dagobah now, unless he misheard old Ben and is instead headed to a gogo bar..
Given that we live near DC, a Gogo Bar would not be out of the question.
Of course Vader would stop for free donuts. What else would he have with his coffee? If he had biscotti that would be too weird.
Awww. It made Vader spill some…
brilliant.
Love the Monty Python reference.
Great comic! That last shot of Vader running away? Priceless!! Had to show the ‘rents why I was laughing uproariously!
(Sweet! As a sidenote, I spelled uproariously correctly the first try! Yay, me!)
I LOVE it! (clippity-clop, clippity-clop)
Just noticed the other day that Vader’s cup has a Star Trek symbol on his cup. What’s the story behind that?
just caught on to BMS. spent the last three days overviewing every issue and link. Huge loyal fan now. Love the gags, art, and milk cartoon characters. Keep up the good work! I’ll be in touch.
One of the older polls asked for which ep. V character you would be looking forward to the most. One of the options read “Snowtrooper TK-8008”. There have been several chances for some TK-goodies during the bms battle of hoth. Are we just going to assume one of these “unwilling joke-character”-troopers is old TK? I honestly feel a bit disapointed. There’s nothing left *but* the escape scenes from the AT-AT to the X-wing and echo base tunnels to the falcon hangar. Even adding a one-panel TK Cameo somewhere in between there feels sort of “too late” now…
What with the site getting messed up and spending $600 to get it fixed after a 3+ week hiatus, TK-8008 guesting as a Snowtrooper kind of slipped to the back of my mind. I did think briefly about making giving a scene to TK 8008 with the snowtroopers, but for various reasons, it just didn’t fit or work with the planned scripts and I had so much else on my mind. This block of the film also occurred during our two convention appearances this year. There was one more idea I had which could still be an opportunity for the Snowtrooper TK8008 to appear. If we’ve let you down, I’m sorry. Hopefully BMS is a sum of its part and this one omission does not destroy your enjoyment of the ongoing saga.
Shame on you. Work harder – work faster! BONG BONG – BONG – BONG! Invent a way of defying physics and getting 30 hours out of a day, starting… NOW.
I have a way to fulfill our obligation to Mr. Al, despite the fact the opportunity SEEMS to have been missed. 🙂
No worries :3
Way to go, 3PO! Nice touch with the “run away!” bit.
Probably one of my fave strips so far.
I nearly pissed myself laughing out loud at this. I love your version of the droids! I love how you have made this story so new, familiar but new, its been a ton of laughter so far. I’m really glad to have had a chance to read this.
Aww, I hope they eventually get some donuts… if only so one of the troopers lifts it to show his superiors, turning it slightly to catch the light, saying “look sir! Donuts!”
