The passage of time
BMS in FRENCH!
Thanks to the talent, energy and passion of Carlos Gutiérrez, we now have a French translation of Blue Milk Special underway. Thanks also to Vicent Torres (Spanish translator) for assisting in the site design. Without people like Gennady, Michael & the folks at Jedipedia.net, Vicent and Carlos, we would be an entirely monolingual fan project. Put it down to the script, the directing, what-ever-you-will, but onscreen it appears that little more than a couple of days… no… a couple of hours pass between Han & company entering the asteroid field and leaving it. Okay, I could give them a day, maybe two.
They hid inside that space slug in the asteroid. They made some repairs. There was a kiss. They shot mynocks. They escaped the slug (looks more like a worm with teeth, to me, than a slug, but that’s what everyone seems to call it). They flew around among the asteroids, before getting spotted and hiding on the back of a Star Destroyer’s bridge. They drift off with space garbage as the fleet disperses. We cut to Luke on Dagobah again, next thing we know the Falcon is flying through the Bespin Clouds.
Unless there was a lot of time that passed somewhere inbetween these events, then Luke only had a couple of days to get in touch with his inner Jedi under Yoda’s high-speed tutelage. Obviously more time did pass, but that fails to come across on screen, which I have to put down to one of the few things Kerschner didn’t manage to communicate clearly. Does it affect the film in a bad way? Hardly. Still, worth noting.
