The writer, not the singer!
The author of Shadows of the Empire novel was of course, Steve Perry. But as I’ve stated before, not THAT Steve Perry. Of course, you can tell Vader straight to his face, but within his own conscience he will see only what he can understand. Vader just won’t stop believing! *cough* Sorry, that was bad.
The most important thing here is not Steve Perry, or the Journey singer’s impossibly tight jeans, but that Vader prefers unambiguous endings. He has altered the plot. Pray he does not alter it any further!
I don’t want to give everyone the impression I’m a fan of Journey just because Vader likes them. Vader has his own tastes.
Don’t forget, Blue Milk Special has a busy month coming up in September with two convention appearances. We will be at Baltimore Comic Con at Leanne Hannah’s table on September 7-8, and the following weekend we will be at Retro Con, Philadelphia as Blue Milk Special on September 14. If you would like to meet us and get sketches, photos, or collect freebies like our promo cards then come out to see us. More info next week.
As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, Blue Milk Special is supporting the GoFundMe campaign for five year old Jonnelle’s Brain Surgery. The surgery is coming up fast on August 23rd. Leanne and I made a donation to the family to kick things off. If you can afford to make a small donation to help Jonnelle, you will get Blue Milk Special’s respect! But if you can’t afford to join us in contributing to help the family, then please at least SHARE this call for support with your online friends and colleagues. This is the link. http://www.gofundme.com/3n8nfg Let’s make as many people aware of Jonnelle’s campaign as possible.
Here’s a message from Jonnelle’s mother.
Jonnelle is a 5 year old little girl that will undergo Brain Surgery on August 23rd at CHKD in Norfolk va !!! Drs found out that she has chiari malformation of the brain. This has to be taken care of asap. She will be down for 6 weeks after the surgery. Also she will remain in the hospital up to 2 weeks after the surgery …. so this means we will not leave her side !!!!! So I’ll be out of work trying to care for our baby girl. The reason I’ve posted this link is to see if we can get a little help. The money will help with some co-pays as well as food and a few things she has asked for!!!! She will miss out on the 1st couple of weeks of school so friends and family I thank you for all the help and support. Thanks so so very much for you time and help. Jonnelle’s Brain Surgery GoFundMe Campaign.
Thanks again for reading Blue Milk Special. Remember, you can download the Droid apps Comic Rocket or Carbon Webcomic Reader to enjoy BMS on your Droid compatible device. Both are free, just like Blue Milk Special.
“I have ALTERED the plot, PRAY I don’t alter it any FURTHER.”
“This plot is getting worse all the time!”
LOL! Did you see the robot chicken one?
I love that bit. “THIS DEAL…is very fair and I’m happy to be a part of it.”

Yeah….you know, you and Leanne avoided the inevitable jokes about the author’s name being identical to the lead singer of Journey. Well, played, you two. Very well played.
Also, kudos to Vader for totally calling out the author’s skeevy motivations in the plot.
Thank you, that was hysterical.
I like seeing Vader acting all “Bad Ass”! 😉
Who doesn’t love Journey?
[raises hand quickly]
Me! Over here! 🙂
I concur with Klem.
Journey rules, and, unlike other once awesome things from the same time period, we don’t have to worry about Steve Perry coming back 20 years later and changing the lyrics to his songs and adding in completely unnecessary CGI animation. Because, unlike SOME people, Steve wouldn’t be like that.
Put me very solidly in the “meh” column. I can tolerate them, but I can’t be more than lukewarm to their music. Ditto for Foreigner, Night Ranger and all the other bands of that ilk. I always was more of a Pink Floyd, B-52’s, Laurie Anderson guy.
Journey was a late discovery for me, but the style has never really been a favorite. Of the two of us, I’d say Leanne is the one who will appreciate them more. I’ll explain a bit more on that in a moment, but first…
I’m a Pink Floyd guy. I love the atmospheres and the raw rock / blues that they interweave. Obviously the classic 70s era of their music, but I do lean toward Dave Gilmour over Roger Waters when it comes to that split. Their best years were definitely when they were able to work together. Wish You Were Here and Animals are two of my favorite albums. Pink Floyd was for many years in the 90s my favorite band. Ask any of my close friends from that period of my life and that’s the band they will tell you. It all happened when I went to see a Laser Light show of Pink Floyd at the Auckland Observatory in New Zealand with my friends Leon and Kylie. It cast a spell on me. Then I went to see the Pink Floyd Experience with my great mate, Rob. I’m a fan of Gilmour’s solo work too, even though 80s and 90s Floyd is pretty much a different style from classic Floyd. But Leanne really got me to fall for the Bealtes. Both bands have an almost mythic history of their own, but it’s the Beatles that can pick me up when I need it.
I would concur about the B-52s if that guy with the comedic voice wouldn’t ruin their songs. Roam Around the World is about the only song that doesn’t, and I freaking LOVE that song.
When it comes to Journey’s style of pop radio love song rock music, whatever the term for that is, Foreigner hits the mark. They have some real foot tappers, but in saying that, I’ve never cared much about them beyond their hits. I prefer harder rock from the 70s and 80s than the more produced, stadium friendly love song rock bands. More Deep Purple than Foreigner, not that I don’t like the odd pop rock song. One of my guilty pleasures is listening to Def Leppard. I think I was trying to make up for lost time, since back in their heyday, I wasn’t really allowed to like anything outside of easy listening or Michael Jackson (pre Dangerous).
I remember listening to Metallica and Guns N Roses cassettes with the volume down low and my ear to the speaker. My mum had a way of killing the enjoyment of the music by getting uber Victorian. During that time I had a diet of Queen, Phil Collins, Tears for Fears and Crowded House. Still love those soft rock hits. Over the years it became a hobby of mine to backtrack through the 60s, 70s and 80s catching up. I was really blown away by Heart, both their 70s raw rock and their 80s love rock hits. I just hardly knew about them until I started filling in the gaps in my rock history. Nowadays though, the bands I’m biggest into are The Birthday Massacre and Goldfrapp. Both have retro elements to their tunes but with a modern feel. Synthy / electronic rock just has an ambiance that I love.
“Force stop…breathin’ O-O-OOOOO!”
If Vader Kills Steve Perry, the band can just replace him with Steve Aguirre, and most people won’t be able to tell the diffference…
P.S. Journey Fan Here!!!
MMMM… I like Journey… but Glee gave a big hand helping to remember them (jajaja they and anothers). Nothing better than the old 80´s jummmm
IMAGINE VADER roking with Def leppard… Rod!!!! in some of your “free time” you shold ensamble a SW rock band… jajaaj The tattoines
It could happen.
Journey is responsible for the most awesome action scene music ever – when Chris Evans is running from the Corp. Sec. of the Microsoft-alike in the Losers to the tune of “Don’t Stop Believing.”
Plus Steve Perry has his own rule subset in Baseketball.
Great stuff guys.
