What are the odds?
C3PO would have LOVED to have been present to add commentary in this scene! I’ve attached some of the Shadows of the Empire trading card art by the Brothers’ Hildebrant. We really sweated to get this one done. I was in a ton of pain last night, but slugged my way through it. Without Leanne, though, this strip would not have been possible. Almost entirely new art. Great job, Leanne! You are amazing!
Attention! We need 3D rendering / modeling help.
If you would like to assist the Blue Milk Special team in the area of providing cel-shaded renders of Star Wars space craft then please shoot me an email. I need some assistance for upcoming strips. Geoffrey Padilla, our go to guy, is currently unavailable due to that pesky thing called life. We wish Geoff the best and hope he feels better soon!
Basically, 3D models are mostly provided by scifi3d.com, so you don’t necessarily need to be able to model to be able to help me out. I just need renders of several space craft at particular angles. Ideally, these will be rendered with simplified cel-shading (the cartoony style seen in the strip). Credit should be given to the original creator of the model used. I don’t have the software, the know how, or the time to do this myself. So if you want to contribute to the greater glory of the Blue Milk Special empire, then email me and let me know.
Great comic today! I just bought the SotE card set on Ebay due to reading your strips recently.
Great one, yeah, some events have “plot device” written all over them! Sorry to hear about your ongoing health problems, too many of us are taking their health for granted.
A belated happy birthday to Leanne, btw, I somehow failed to spot that information in the last update.
I’m really starting to be happy that I did not read the books, or play the game etc… 🙂
Love the way the swoops look! 🙂
yah, it’s actually a good thing you didn’t Gatto. while i understand the author’s intent (highlight vader’s eventual redemption, how underhanded the emperor was, how much time passed between empire and jedi) the book itself was horrible. Guri was an interesting character, but it took other people to use her to fullest, Dash was annoying as hell, and Xixor was simply there to be evil (and didnt do a very good job of it) and hell, the ambush over tatooine by IG-88 is actually from the 5th galaxy guide of the WEG RPG. so – in truth, not much about shadows was original or innovative. that said though, the BMS skewering of the novel has been great, especially when you compare it to the adaptation of SOTME we saw between ANH and TESB.
This won’t be the first time that the parody of something exceeds the quality of the original work.
Mr. Padilla is going to be one tough act to follow.
I’m a big fan of bright colors, so I’m totally digging what Leanne is doing with these different characters!
Thanks. I’m actually doing the coloring. Leanne colors when I’m swamped. So I’ll steal credit there. The Dark Horse comic color choices really stand out next to the more natural Original Trilogy colors. The result are some vibrant strips of late.
Oh – I beg your pardon. I’m totally digging the colors that *you’re* doing, and that Leanne does when you’re swamped. It’s a nice change of pace from the earth-tone heavy palette seen with the films, mainly.
We really need to make some kind of video with a time lapse showing how we make a typical strip from start to finish. That way people can see exactly what I do! LOL. Leanne does do some colors herself, but it’s usually my job so that I can save her time.
JA!!!!! I laugh a lot with the crashed gang…. good point.
“That’s no meteor. It’s a plot device.”
Thanks for all the hard work!
I’d be fascinated to see a video of the whole process, but that’s probably a big ask with your current schedule and commitments.
Keep up the good work and belated happy birthday to Leanne.
Is it just me, or does Jix look like Ricardo Montalban as Khan from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan? 🙂
