When Wookiees Panic
Here we are at the penultimate strip from our parody of the animated segment of the Star Wars Holiday Special. Yes, Chewbacca unsuccessfully tried flushing the talisman down the Falcon’s toilet. The concept here is that he then did his best to recover it. I assume the still lingering presence of the antidote is keeping Luke and Han conscious. I guess…
Tomorrow we wrap things up (something the abrupt animated segment failed to do) and prepare to move onto the rest of the Holiday Special. Sorry about taking yesterday off. Leanne and I decided to take all next week off so that we can catch up with other projects. Yep, no new strips next week, alas!
Are you new to BMS? If so, then you can start reading this webcomic from the beginning by clicking here.

Heh. If Chewie just fished that out of the toilet, then the antidote is probably not the only thing “lingering” … 😉
Have fun next week, and don’t worry about us! Make sure you take some time to treat Leanne to something special. (You know she deserves it!)
LOL
We may be taking a break from BMS but we’ll be busy elsewhere!
Darn, if we just could steal the plans for some imperial equipment that makes the talisman work backwards and keep you up and going to make moar strips anyway next week >:3
Nice try, Mr. Al. It really would take magic to get more strips down next week. At least we’ve had a solid run since February with some insane output in April. 🙂
This (at least to me) beggs the question of does Chewbacca have a problem with s#!% sticking to his fur, and if so who’s gonna tell him?
BTW it’s too bad (for once) that Jar Jar was not around, as he could have plunged the toilet (he’s got to be good for something).
Ew….
That question begs the question , how dose he poop if his ass is covered in fur ? (Not like I was looking there *shifty eyes*
Has everything else in SW been answered by now that a question like this seems interesting? 😉
Not all questions have been answered like where the hell did luke get his second lightsaber ?
But this stuff needs to be answered sooner or later and i want to know now.
I’m still confused on the lightsaber thing. Luke was given his father’s lightsaber in Obi-Wan’s hut. He didn’t lose it until his hand was chopped off. Obi-Wan had his own personal lightsaber. What am I missing here?
He made the second lightsaber in Obi-Wan’s hut between the events of Episode V and VI. I’m not entirely sure of the specifics, but there was a booklet published – I think it was called Fightsaber. It talked about the lightsaber forms and was supposedly used by Luke or something…
Just gotta tell you two, this is the best webcomic I’ve ever seen! The writing, the art, the subject matter, is the best! Thanks for making this.
Wow! Thanks Kevin. But we can’t wholly accept the praise without pointing out that essentially we are just parodying something that already has its own following. We might diverge with our own material now and then, but these are characters and worlds that are fairly familiar to most of our readers already. There are webcomics out there that have more courage than us and create their own original worlds and characters. Just check out the top webcomics listings at TopWebComics.com.
That said, we are tickled pink that you enjoy BMS so much. Readers such as yourself keep us busy working on this strip even when the pressures of time and life can get in the way. So thank you. 🙂
Rod, your sincere humility impresses me!
I would say its Qui-gon’s but it looks nothing like it. When I was younger I always thought it was Yoda’s lightsaber that eh kept around to kill rats and shit, but that cant be it. He could have gone back to Ben’s hut and found another one , It looks just like his one I mean he had to do something for about 20 years sitting in a hut watching luke.
I’m still confused. Are you saying that the lightsaber that Obi-Wan gave Luke WAS NOT Anakin’s after all?
I think the question is that; after luke lost his first lightasber in Empire (and his girlfriend, I mean hand) he showed up in Jedi with a new one not unlike Ben’s, so where did he get it?
I thought Vader and the Empire addressed it, in Jedi, and assumed that Luke built a new one. Or is my memory faulty?
I personally am more interrested in the Chewbacca question myself.
Any plans of a perminent forum, by topic instead of date, where whe can endlessly drone on about old questions instead of continually addressing new ones in the same disorganized fashon?
– I for one think there are not enough pointless places to go on the internet and we need more;)
Brilliant!
That’s what I remember too. When Luke lets himself be captured on Endor, Vader compliments him on his Jedi training and mentions how Luke had learned to make his own lightsaber. Apparently that’s one of the steps a Jedi Knight is supposed to go through?
He said something like “I see you have constructed yourself a new lightsaber, your skills are now complete” but how would Vader know ?
Maybe he is like a rabbit and dose not poop in logs but in hard pellets so it docent get in his fur.
I think it was Anakin’s third lightsaber after he lst his in episode 2 and took a dead jedi’s… Which apparently he got rid of…so, yeah
Jesus Christ – I’m losing my mind. When did SW get so complicated? Oh yeah, with the prequels…
The one he had in ROTS is the same as Luke’s in ANH and ESB.
I’m sure that he gave him Anakin’s lightsaber .
I’m saying that Luke probably went back to Obi-wan’s hut looking for another lightsaber or the things to make one, after all I don’t think lightsaber parts are easy to come by, or that Obi-Wan made another lightsaber during his 20 or so years on Tatooine and Luke found it in all of his stuff. If you look at the two lightsaber they look almost identical .
Yes, I’M GOING NUTS. Aghawallahagooliewooliefbnsfdfkhdfldf&*(^&^??!
Even without the prequels the question would still be asked.
The EU says that Ben left a bunch of instructions and lightsaber materials in his hut, and Luke went and picked them up at some point. (I don’t think they explained why Ben couldn’t have just given Luke the lightsaber kit in ANH, though.)
I know he left some training guides but not materials.
Yep – one of those Haynes Manuals.
Thank God – I thought i was just stupid or something. Yes, what are you on about?
They sortof answered it in the prequels. Obiwan kept Quigonn’s green lightsaber (the one he used to chop darth maul in half) – its implied, since in attack of the clones, he has a new blue one.
Much later, its assumed when Luke was building a new lightsaber he used parts rummaged from Obiwan’s hut. i.e. the green crystal from qui-gon and some parts that were spare from obi-wan (hence why the new lightsaber in ROTJ looks alot likeobi-wan’s from ANH); but w/ a green blade.
I would have assumed he wouldn’t have taken the time to make another lightsaber as that takes a month or so for someone who is building one for the first time , and when you are trying to rescue Han from Jaba, turn your father back, and defeat/kill the emperor at the same time I would imagine building a lightsaber is at the bottom of the to-do list.
I would think, considering the requirements behind defeating the Emperor and Darth Vader, that building a lightsaber would be essential to your plan….
Yes, I think a month two as well. I went to Jedi Project Management school. We should add on another 50% as contingency… NO! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!
; )
Ok, we all know Luke loses his father’s lightsaber (the blue one that he got from Obi-Wan in Episode 4) in TESB. The book Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry tells what happens between Episodes 5 and 6. In it, Luke returns to Ben’s adobe hut on Tatooine and constructs a new lightsaber, which is the green one we see in ROTJ. The text in quotes are excerpts from the novel…
Lightsaber-building “was a traditional exercise for a Jedi, so he’d been told.” He’d found “an old leather-bound book” that belonged to Obi-Wan. “A book that contained all manner of wondrous things for a would-be Jedi, such as plans for building a lightsaber. The thumbprint clasp on the volume had accepted Luke’s right thumb to unlock it, and once it was open, he saw the flashpacket rigged inside the cover. Had anybody tried to force the clasp, the book would have burst into flame. Somehow, Ben had known Luke would find this book. Somehow, he had prepared it so that only he could open it safely.” Luke had previously rounded up the materials he needed. “He’d managed to collect most of the electronic and mechanical parts in Mos Eisley–power cells, controls, a high-energy reflector cup–but he had to make his own focusing jewel.” To make the jewel, he put the ingredients into a “little furnace” that was at the hut. Luke didn’t know how long it would take for the jewel to form but he knew that once it was, he’d assemble all the parts as detailed in the instructions.
The novel goes into more detail about all this. If you want to know more, read it! It’s a really great read. Plus, it’s one of few EU books that actually has Vader as one of the main characters.
Hope this clears things up!
Ok. All this discussion is making me want to dig deeper into the EU. Any book suggestions?
I think this was all covered in Shadows of the Empire if I remember correctly. It wouldn’t be too far a stretch to imagine that Obi would have spare parts for his saber. After all, anything with the ability to converge light into a steady blade must be very prone to breaking down.
