Wicket to the rescue?
So, we are really crossing three slices of pop-culture here: Star Wars, Aliens and Gremlins. Gremlins is probably the least widely known of the bunch among the younger generation so here’s the relevant clip from Gremlins 1984 (Warning this clip WILL scare your children). Blog continues below…
We’ve loved doing our little tribute to Aliens and Gremlins. It’s a crossover with Star Wars that could only really work in Blue Milk Special. It’s something we’d been looking forward to reaching in the story line for a long time. Some of you will get it, but others might be thinking, why so leftfield?
Part of the reason is that Original Trilogy Star Wars has been mined and parodied to death in the three decades after Return of the Jedi was released. The other part is that Leanne and I were both children in the 1980s and so we were lucky to have such an eclectic mix of fantasy adventure movies to shape our imaginations. Aliens and Gremlins were just small parts of that, but we’ve had a lot of fun revisiting and shining a light on for readers who might be unfamiliar with these franchises.
We have a few items for sale on Ebay to try and raise money…
If you are enjoying Blue Milk Special and would like to either be a patron, or donate to this free webcomic project to help support it, then you have three options. 1.) you can donate any amount to my medical fund at GoFundMe. 2.) You could support us with anything as low as $1 dollar per month through subscribing through Patreon with the added perk of seeing unlettered art, and webcomics before they are published on this website. 3.) You can purchase an item through our store, but be aware that we get only a very small portion of the sale.
You can still stay ahead of the website by subscribing through Patreon and supporting us on a monthly basis. It’s a great way to help keep the artists going and producing the work you enjoy. We’re not the only creators on Patreon and I highly recommend searching through Patreon to discover similar works in the genres you enjoy.
